On August 16, 1999, the Government issued Decree No. 71 establishing the administrative unit of Thanh Ha ward separated from Cam Ha commune (Hoi An) with an area of 640 hectares.

After 25 years of construction and development, the local economy has developed quite well, the trade - service - tourism sector has developed remarkably. The number of visitors to Thanh Ha traditional pottery village has increased sharply every year. The annual budget revenue basically exceeds the assigned estimate; in 2023, the local budget revenue will be more than 27 billion VND, 27 times higher than 25 years ago.

Over the past 25 years, the city and locality have focused on investing in many transport infrastructure projects, schools, cultural houses, and large-scale socio-economic development projects, contributing to clearly changing the appearance of Thanh Ha ward towards a civilized and modern urban area.

The rate of cultural families annually reaches over 95%. In 2000, the area had 294 poor households, 300 near-poor households and 17 extremely disadvantaged households. Now there are no poor households and only 2 near-poor households.
