On August 16, 1999, the Government issued Decree No. 71 establishing Thanh Ha ward as an administrative unit, separated from Cam Ha commune (Hoi An), with an area of 640 hectares.
After 25 years of construction and development, the local economy has developed significantly, with the trade, service, and tourism sectors experiencing remarkable growth. The number of visitors to the traditional Thanh Ha pottery village has increased sharply year after year. Annual budget revenue has consistently exceeded the projected targets; in 2023, local budget revenue exceeded 27 billion VND, 27 times higher than 25 years prior.
Over the past 25 years, the city and local authorities have invested in numerous infrastructure projects, including transportation, schools, cultural centers, and large-scale socio-economic development projects, significantly transforming the appearance of Thanh Ha ward towards a civilized and modern urban area.
The annual rate of families recognized as "cultured families" exceeds 95%. In 2000, the area had 294 poor households, 300 near-poor households, and 17 households facing extreme difficulties; today, there are no poor households left, and only 2 near-poor households remain.
