"The club is delighted to announce the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. The Argentine midfielder has signed a long-term contract until 2032. Welcome to Stamford Bridge, Alejandro," Chelsea said in a statement.
According to The Athletic , in addition to the 46.2 million euro fee, MU will receive an additional 10% from the clause to share the profits of selling the Argentine striker in the future. Garnacho became the highest sale of a "Homegrown" player in MU's history, surpassing the record of David Beckham when he joined Real Madrid for 37.5 million euros more than 2 decades ago.
Garnacho said: "It's a great moment for my family to join this great club. I can't wait to get started. I've watched the FIFA Club World Cup and joining the world champions is special. We are the best team in the world. It's great to be here and I'm very happy."
Garnacho was born and raised in Madrid, and spent time training at Getafe and Atletico Madrid academies before joining MU in 2020, aged just 16. After impressive performances for the youth teams, Garnacho made his first-team debut in April 2022, in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
At 21, Garnacho has 144 appearances for MU, with 93 in the Premier League, and 16 goals. Garnacho has loved Chelsea since he was a child. He received many offers this summer, including a dream salary in Saudi Arabia, but he turned them all down to wait for "The Blues".
