The dangerous situation caused the audience at the performance to scream in fear. The bear, named Xiong Xiong, lunged at a circus performer, knocking him to the floor. Another performer, who was also on stage at the time, ran to help his colleague but was unsuccessful.

Chinese media reported that it took six circus staff members to help the artist escape from the out-of-control bear.

An audience member present at the performance said that the bear initially performed the motorcycle maneuver quite well, but when asked by the trainer to continue the motorcycle riding act, it began to lose control.

With the help of circus members, the situation gradually came back under control. The bear was removed from the stage. Afterwards, a circus representative said that the artist who was attacked by the bear had been examined at the hospital and, fortunately, suffered no serious injuries.

The circus troupe stated that they will continue to perform animal acts, but will enhance safety measures to ensure a better response to potential incidents during training and performances.
