Thien Ma Mountain, along with Thien An and Thien But Mountains, has become one of the three sacred mountains of the Quang Ngai people. Here is the tallest statue of Buddha Quan Am in Southeast Asia.

Thien Ma Mountain is at the end of Tra Khuc River, about 15km from the center of Quang Ngai City towards the sea. Although not as famous as Thien An and Thien But mountains, Thien Ma is also mentioned in folk songs of the country, such as: When Thien Ma crosses the river - Then My Lai village will not have any lords .

My Lai village (Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai city) is located behind Thien Ma mountain.

Historically, the village was famous for its tradition of imperial examinations. Many people in the village were mandarins in the royal court.

Although it is a sacred mountain, Thien Ma mountain has never had any temples or religious structures in the past.

So this mountain is rarely mentioned. It was not until 2018 that monk Thich Tam Vi (from Quang Ngai, who is the abbot of two large pagodas in Lam Dong province, Linh Phuoc Pagoda and Linh An Pagoda) invested in the Thien Ma cultural area on the mountain, covering nearly 100 hectares.

Currently, the Long Hoa garden area, the Maitreya statue, the main hall of Minh Duc pagoda... have been basically completed. Many items are still under construction, but this pagoda has attracted a lot of tourists in recent times.

The scale of Thien Ma cultural area is enormous with the main hall being ^12,000m2 wide. In which, Dai Hung Bao Dien has three 21m high Buddha statues, these two statues are engraved with 64 reliefs about the life of Buddha.

In particular, Minh Duc Pagoda has a 125m high statue of Buddha Quan Am. Currently, the construction of the statue's rough structure has been basically completed. This is the tallest Buddha statue in Vietnam, surpassing the statues at Ba Den Mountain ( Tay Ninh ) at 72m high and at Linh An Pagoda (Da Lat City) at 71m high.

This statue also became the tallest Guanyin statue in Southeast Asia and is among the tallest Guanyin Buddha statues in the world.

The main hall of Minh Duc Pagoda and many other items have been basically completed.

Quang Ngai's cultural attractions

With its outstanding height, visitors in the center of Quang Ngai City can easily see this statue in many different locations. The most beautiful is on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa streets (located on both sides of Tra Khuc River).

In the clear season, standing on Thien Ma mountain you can see Ly Son island.

When traveling from Ly Son to the mainland, tourists can easily see the statue of Buddha Quan Am on Thien Ma mountain.

In addition, with a very beautiful location, visitors to Minh Duc Pagoda can see the whole view of Quang Ngai city and a large area, covering an entire sea.

The pagoda faces Tra Khuc River and the sea, visitors will see the whole view of Co Luy Bridge as if flying a flycam.

Thien Ma spiritual cultural area is expected by the Quang Ngai provincial government to become a tourist destination that attracts visitors to this land.

In particular, with its convenient location, located on the tourist route connecting all the most beautiful historical and cultural sites and landscapes in the province, Quang Ngai hopes that this cultural area will contribute to promoting the province's tourism to develop even more strongly in the coming time.
