Vietnamese farmers are holding back on coffee sales, waiting for prices to rise above VND100,000/kg. This has reduced domestic Robusta supplies, even though ICE-monitored Robusta inventories have reached a one-year high of 6,519 lots.
Traders predict Robusta prices could recover if domestic supplies remain tight. Coffee prices could remain volatile. Robusta prices have a chance to recover if farmers hold onto their stocks, while Arabica prices are under pressure due to low inventories and looming import tariffs.
With limited alternative supplies outside Brazil, U.S. coffee prices are unlikely to fall. Tariff policies and moves from major producers like Vietnam will continue to influence the market.
Market Overview July 26, 2025
The coffee price market today, July 26, 2025, is influenced by supply and demand, trade policy, and farmer psychology. Below is a brief analysis of the current situation.
Robusta prices on the London exchange on July 25, 2025 decreased. The September 2025 futures contract decreased by 1.31%, reaching 3,305 USD/ton. The further terms (11/2025, 01/2026, 03/2026, 05/2026) decreased by 1.09% to 1.48%.
Arabica prices on the New York floor fell across the board. The September 2025 contract fell 1.12% to 301.45 cents/lb. Further maturities (December 2025, March 2026) fell between 0.98% and 1.01%. Arabica inventories fell to a three-month low (806,062 bags).
Coffee supplies are plentiful thanks to new harvests from Brazil and Indonesia. Brazil, which supplies a third of the 23 million bags of coffee imported by the United States each year, is currently at its peak.
The US plans to impose a 50% import tax on Brazilian goods, including coffee, starting August 1, 2025. US roasters increased purchases before the new tax took effect, putting pressure on Arabica prices.
The US has imposed a 19% import tariff on Indonesian goods, including coffee. The tariff is considered moderate but still affects supply.
Coffee futures prices have been volatile due to trade uncertainty. Arabica inventories have dwindled to just 14,000 bags awaiting approval to enter ICE warehouses, putting pressure on supply.
