The People's Committee of Hoi Phu Ward ( Gia Lai Province) said that the ward has asked for support from the Defense Zone Unit of Zone 3-Thong Nhat and local forces to help overcome the incident of the wall collapse at Duc Long Gia Lai Bus Station, which caused damage to many properties of residents in the early morning of July 24.
Mr. Vu Manh Dinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi Phu Ward (Gia Lai Province) said that after receiving information about the incident, the locality planned to dispatch military and militia forces to help households affected after the wall of Duc Long bus station collapsed on their houses.
However, due to the continued heavy rain and the damage assessment not being completed, it had to be postponed until today (July 26).
Mr. Dinh said the initial cause was determined to be that the wall was built many years ago and had deteriorated. In addition, the drainage system in the area was not guaranteed, so during the storm, the 43m long wall collapsed.
In addition to the 43m collapsed location, there is also a phenomenon of the foundation of the building being loosened, the wall tilted and at risk of collapsing onto the households below.
Immediately after the incident, the ward directed an urgent review and inspection of locations around the Duc Long Bus Station construction site. For potentially dangerous locations, the ward immediately requested the authorities to mobilize households to move items out of dangerous locations.
Residents are asked to pay attention and monitor cracks in the house and suspicious noises. The ward also proactively requests professional staff to coordinate with families to regularly check and prevent incidents.
Mr. Huynh Trong Khiem, Director of Duc Long Gia Lai Bus Station, said that the unit has worked with the victim's family and agreed on remedial measures after this wall collapse incident. At the same time, the unit will invite a consulting unit to survey and develop a plan to overcome the landslide, both at the collapsed location and at potential landslide locations.
