Gia Lai holds online meeting with Ministry of Construction to prepare for 2025 Aviation Search and Rescue Exercise

(gialai.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of September 11, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province held a meeting with the Steering Committee for the Aviation Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX 2025) - Ministry of Construction to discuss and coordinate preparations for the national-scale exercise event that will take place in 2025.

The meeting was held online at two locations. At the Ministry of Construction location, Deputy Minister Le Anh Tuan - Head of the SAREX 2025 Steering Committee chaired; at the Gia Lai province location, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que chaired. Attending the meeting were members of the SAREX 2025 Steering Committee Working Group, along with representatives of departments and branches that are members of the Gia Lai Provincial Civil Defense Command.

SAREX 2025 is a ministerial-level exercise of the Ministry of Construction chaired and organized by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. The exercise consists of two phases: operating the mechanism and conducting the actual exercise (combining ground, air and sea forces). The purpose of the exercise is to practice and improve the ability to organize, command and operate search and rescue operations in the flight information region; test the capacity to organize, command, coordinate and operate aviation search and rescue operations of the search and rescue system nationwide; at the same time review and complete regulations, plans and options on aviation search and rescue; practice search and rescue techniques for aircraft in distress in coastal areas; widely disseminate to organizations, units and people about the reality of aviation search and rescue operations; introduce and demonstrate to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other countries about Vietnam's ability to ensure search and rescue services. As planned, the SAREX 2025 Exercise is expected to be held in early November 2025 in Nhon Ly beach area, Quy Nhon Dong ward, Gia Lai province.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Que emphasized: SAREX 2025 exercise is a particularly important task, contributing to improving response and rescue capacity in emergency situations. Comrade Nguyen Huu Que requested relevant units and localities to proactively coordinate and regularly exchange information with the Steering Committee and Command Committee to ensure consistency in preparation and organization of the exercise.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Anh Tuan - Head of the Steering Committee for the SAREX 2025 Exercise acknowledged and highly appreciated the close coordination of Gia Lai province in preparing for the exercise. The Deputy Minister of Construction requested relevant units to continue to coordinate synchronously, promptly complete the scenario, ensure conditions of facilities, forces, means and absolute safety during the exercise.
