Prolonged heavy rain on September 6 isolated more than 300 households in Ia Pa commune when the culvert in the commune was flooded more than 1.5 meters deep.

According to the assignment, Team 1 is headed by Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Cao Thanh Thuong; Team 2 is headed by Colonel Nguyen The Vinh, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Team 3 is headed by Major General Le Quang Nhan, Director of the Provincial Police; Team 4 is headed by Director of the Department of Health Le Quang Hung. The Provincial People's Committee requested the teams to complete the inspection before September 15 and report the results to the Department of Agriculture and Environment before September 20.

The teams focused on inspecting and urging the work of preparing for natural disaster prevention and control in localities; the development and implementation of the 2025 natural disaster response plan, focusing on plans to evacuate people to respond to storms, floods, and landslides; and plans to ensure the safety of ships and boats during storms and natural disasters.

Check the complete and accurate updating of data on households, forces, vehicles, materials, food, provisions and evacuation points; account management, authorization and exploitation of subsystems on the Gia Lai Province Natural Disaster Prevention System (https://thientai.gialai.gov.vn); the ability to operate, activate and manage functions when there is a natural disaster situation; and at the same time, assess the level of local readiness in using the system to monitor, direct response and report promptly.

Inspect disaster response preparations according to the "4 on-the-spot" principle, especially for storms, floods, inundation, flash floods, and landslides; ensure safety of reservoirs, dykes, and clear flow of rivers, streams, and drainage systems before the rainy and stormy season.

According to Mr. Vu Ngoc An, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province, the whole province currently has 283 reservoirs with a total capacity of more than 1.2 billion m³, 486 dams and 53 hydroelectric lakes with a capacity of nearly 2,700 MW.

Mr. Vu Ngoc An said that many constructions have degraded, some items are damaged, posing potential safety risks, especially during the rainy and stormy season. Faced with this reality, the agricultural sector will coordinate with localities to urgently review and evaluate the current situation to create a priority list for repair and upgrade according to the level of urgency.

At the same time, the province will mobilize diverse resources, from the State budget, target program capital to socialization, to invest in renovating and modernizing the irrigation system.

At the same time, the industry focuses on applying technology for monitoring and forecasting hydrometeorology, improving the capacity of dam management and operation, and strengthening community communication to ensure the safety of works and downstream areas. This is an important solution, contributing to proactively preventing and mitigating damage caused by natural disasters, ensuring stable production and people's lives.
