Although the domestic market is stable, durian output in the Mekong Delta is currently relatively low due to the peak harvest season. Output is mainly concentrated in the Southeast and Central Highlands regions. Meanwhile, the export market is showing positive signs, especially in the Chinese market - where the supply of Thai durian is disrupted due to weather effects. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese durian to increase its market share thanks to the advantage of fast shipping time, only 1.5 - 2 days, compared to about 7 days for Thai goods.
In the context of many prospects for export, experts recommend that farmers pay more attention to improving cultivation techniques, especially controlling fruit quality to reduce the rate of unripe fruit, increase uniformity and commercial value. Ensuring quality standards not only helps maintain domestic prices but is also an important condition to maintain and expand export markets in the future.
