*Pig price in the Northern region
According to a survey on the morning of December 9 in the Northern region, the price of live pigs increased in Bac Giang and Nam Dinh, reaching 64,000 VND/kg and 63,000 VND/kg, respectively.
Currently, the price of live pigs in this area fluctuates from 62,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.
Of which, the highest transaction price in the country is 64,000 VND/kg, recorded in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong.
*Pig price in the Central Highlands region
The Central Highlands region increased in Quang Tri and Quang Nam, reaching the same level of 61,000 VND/kg.
Accordingly, this area is currently the only one selling live pigs in Khanh Hoa province at 60,000 VND/kg, the lowest in the region. Currently, traders in the Central region are purchasing live pigs at around 60,000 - 63,000 VND/kg.
*Pig price in the Southern region
The southern pig market recorded no new adjustments, maintaining transactions in the range of 61,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.
In particular, Can Tho City has the highest price of live pigs at 64,000 VND/kg. On the contrary, the lowest price in the region is 61,000 VND/kg in Hau Giang, Tien Giang and Tra Vinh.
*Mr. Constante De Jesus Palabrica - representative of the Philippine Ministry of Agriculture, discussed with Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development as follows : "From the survey, we agree that Vietnam's African swine fever vaccine can be used effectively on sows, boars and piglets.
Therefore, it is expected that in 2025, the Ministry will propose to the Philippine government to purchase an additional 500,000 doses of vaccine to widely vaccinate pigs; it is hoped that Vietnam will also soon complete licensing for the AVAC ASF Live vaccine to be injected into sows and boars so that the Philippine Ministry of Agriculture can serve as a basis for proposing to the Government."
Mr. Constante hopes that the Philippine Food Safety Authority will soon approve mass vaccination.
Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien added that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has also sent a document proposing to the Government to purchase more vaccines for widespread vaccination for livestock farmers in Vietnam and is waiting for the opinion of the Ministry of Finance.
