Despite recent periods of unusual volatility, the price of gold in the world market still increased by nearly 6% overall in April.
Newly released data shows that US GDP declined by 0.3% in the most recent quarter as many businesses rushed to import goods ahead of the tariff measures imposed by US President Donald Trump.
Expert Tai Wong commented: “World gold prices are currently still on an upward trend. The latest data shows that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) is getting closer to the possibility of lowering interest rates, which will create many positive developments for gold prices.”
Mr. Wong predicts that the price of gold in the world market is on track to reach $3,500 per ounce.
The latest signs indicate that the US economy is showing signs of weakening, which is why the Fed will need to resume cutting interest rates. The estimated total interest rate cuts by the Fed before the end of this year are around 1%.
