Gold rings at Bao Tin Minh Chau were bought at 77.98 million VND/tael while sold at 79.18 million VND/tael, both unchanged compared to yesterday.
Gold prices hit a new record amid a weaker dollar and lower bond yields. New economic data released this week has raised expectations of more aggressive moves by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting this week. The Fed is expected to announce its first rate cut since March 2020 in the early hours of September 19. Odds for a major 50 basis point rate cut have risen in recent days and remain above 60%. The Bank of England and the Bank of Japan also make monetary policy decisions this week. Investors remain divided on the likelihood of a rate cut by the BOE, while the BOJ is expected to keep policy unchanged but signal further rate hikes.
