The opening match between hosts Inter Miami and Egypt’s Al-Ahly will take place on the morning of June 15 at Hard Rock Stadium. Despite the presence of Lionel Messi, ticket sales have been sluggish.
The stadium has a capacity of 65,000 fans, but fewer than 20,000 tickets had been sold as of June 11. In an effort to drum up enthusiasm and fill empty seats, FIFA has launched attractive incentives, especially for students.
Specifically, FIFA has reduced the ticket price for students to 20 USD, with a buy 1 get 4 free promotion. That means each ticket is only 4 USD. A great price to see Messi play, even when he is no longer at the peak of his form!
The price is shocking because right after the draw took place in December last year, the cheapest ticket was priced at a whopping $349.
By January of this year, the cheapest ticket had dropped to $230. Now the regular ticket price for Inter Miami's opening match is $55.
Despite the sharp drop in ticket prices, FIFA remains confident of the tournament's success.
