Korean volleyball tournament did not choose Bich Tuyen and Bich Thuy

On the morning of April 11, 7 clubs participating in the Korean National Volleyball Championship announced their decision to select Asian foreign players for the new season. Notably, the Vietnamese duo Bich Tuyen and Bich Thuy were not on this list.

This is a big surprise when 2 Vietnamese athletes are highly appreciated by experts and seem to have a great chance to compete in Korea next season. The most prominent case is Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen when she was highly appreciated by Coach Young-Taik Lee of GS Caltex for her scoring ability.

In the first phase of the 2025 Vietnam National Volleyball Championship, which just ended at the end of March, the coach born in 1977 witnessed Bich Tuyen's performance with his own eyes. In an interview after the match, he said that the Vietnamese setter is fully capable of competing in Korea. He even affirmed that Bich Tuyen is the type of athlete that many clubs want.

In the case of Bich Thuy, in the second phase of the Korean national championship that just ended, the Vietnamese middle blocker also performed very impressively. She is an attacking player with a very good scoring efficiency, contributing a lot to both defense and attack. Coach Young-Taik Lee said he highly appreciated Bich Thuy's contributions and believes that the middle blocker born in 2000 still has a chance to return to Korea to compete.

However, GS Caltex did not choose Bich Tuyen or Bich Thuy to play next season. Instead, they chose Japanese striker Reina Tokoku. This 25-year-old African athlete has strong physical strength and has played for Pink Spiders in the 2023-2024 season.

In fact, Korean volleyball has many domestic players playing in the middle blocker position. Each club usually has 4-5 players playing in this position, so teams often tend to choose foreign players to play in the back row, with excellent scoring ability.

Therefore, out of 7 foreign Asian players, there are 6 names playing in the main/opposite position, only the only middle blocker, Anilise Fitzi (Australia), was re-signed by Pink Spiders when they won the 2024-2025 season.

The Korean National Volleyball Championship is scheduled to start in October 2025 and end in April 2026. The Korean league regularly replaces foreign players, so the Vietnamese duo are not out of chances to compete here.
