“Each child is a special individual, so genetic factors, nutrition,education , and family will affect the child's personality formation and development in different ways. In particular, the first 1,000 days of a child's life (from conception until the child is born and reaches 2 years old) is considered the most important period in a person's development, determining happiness, health, and future success,” said Dr. Thuy Duong.
Nutrition in the first 1,000 days of a child's life requires special attention to a complete diet, helping to ensure that enough nutrients are passed to the child for good health, good immunity, and healthy development while in the womb and after birth.

However, today, thanks to the development of science and biomedical technology, genetic testing is a tool that helps parents understand their children accurately and scientifically, thereby being more confident in the process of raising children, especially in the first 1,000 days of life. For example, milk protein allergy is a common allergy in young children, related to changes in the genes TLR1, TLR6, IL10. Children may not be able to eat foods made from cow's milk, such as milk, yogurt, ice cream, butter or be allergic to other types of milk such as sheep's milk, goat's milk... When knowing in advance that their child has an allergic gene, the mother can be more proactive in the process of breastfeeding and weaning.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tran Van Cong, Sunshine Pediatric Clinic, shared that after a period of breastfeeding, the baby will start to eat solid foods. Choosing the time to start solid foods at which month will depend on the child's skills at that time. The child can sit by himself or sit with the support of his parents. The neck is stiff and the tongue shows signs of wanting to eat. The best time is 4-6 months, starting no later than 8 months.
During the process of weaning your baby, parents should gradually change the diet and not force the baby to eat too much. Dr. Cong also pointed out a mistake that many parents make when weaning their babies is forcing them to eat too much and abusing supplements. This will lead to the risk of obesity and many other diseases.
"If parents have their children tested for genetic abnormalities such as bitter taste sensitivity, milk protein allergy, etc., parents do not need to avoid these foods completely because it will lead to the risk of nutritional deficiencies. Instead, when parents know that their children are sensitive to bitter tastes, they can feed their children with sweet foods first, then bitter foods, in order from least to most bitter," said Dr. Cong.
In addition to nutrition, doctors also need to create a natural environment with adequate light and open, airy space, avoiding the risk of accidents in daily life, helping children exercise and develop both physically and mentally.
