Roller Sports Youth Championship 2025: Selecting elite athletes for the national team

The 2025 National Roller Sports Youth Championship selects outstanding athletes for the 2025 national team and upcoming international tournaments.

On June 6, the opening ceremony of the 2025 National Roller Sports Youth Championship took place in Tien Giang province. The tournament was organized by the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department, the Vietnam Skating and Roller Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tien Giang province.

In addition to the purpose of creating a healthy playground for the youth community, exercising, improving physical fitness, this is also an opportunity to develop the movement of practicing and competing in Roller Sports throughout the country in general, Tien Giang province in particular; at the same time, selecting excellent athletes for the national team in 2025 and international tournaments in the coming time.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tien Giang province, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament - said: "Roller Sports - a sport that combines speed, technique and flexibility, carrying a youthful, modern, dynamic, attractive and highly artistic spirit is developing strongly in the community, especially the young generation.

This year's tournament is not only a gathering place for passionate, enthusiastic young athletes from all over the country, but also a place to discover and nurture future sports talents, contributing to the sustainable development of Roller Sports in particular and the country's sports in general, an opportunity for young athletes to demonstrate their talents, exchange, learn and accumulate competition experience.

This is also an opportunity for experts to select outstanding faces, prepare successor forces for regional and international arenas, thereby affirming the growth and professionalization of this sport in the Vietnamese sports system."

The 2025 National Youth Roller Sports Championship attracts more than 150 professional and semi-professional athletes who love speed sports from provinces and cities across the country including: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Hai Phong, Bac Giang and host Tien Giang.

Athletes participated in 20 Speed ​​Roller Skating events, 12 Artistic Roller Skating events and 4 Skateboarding events. Each athlete can register for a maximum of 2 events for each competition category.

In order to improve the professional quality, the Vietnam Skating and Roller Federation invited two experts to run the tournament: Ms. Shirley Tay Lai Fong - President of the Asian Skate and Roller Federation and Mr. Shermaine Lim Pei Xuan - International Referee of the Asian Skate Federation.

The tournament took place on June 6 and 7 at Hung Vuong Square (My Tho city, Tien Giang province).
