The country's education has grown strongly over the past 5 years, with many breakthroughs.

On October 9, at the Press Conference announcing the preparations and organization of the 1st Government Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030, Comrade Nguyen Kim Son, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Training informed the press about the outstanding and important achievements that the Education sector has achieved during this term of the Government.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that over the past 5 years, the education sector has implemented the guidelines of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress on continuing to fundamentally and comprehensively innovate education and training. Education and training are still directed and oriented as a strategic breakthrough and a top national policy for national development with the important task of developing people, training human resources and nurturing talents to serve the cause of industrialization, modernization and national development.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son informed about the outstanding results of the education sector in recent times.

Aware of this responsibility, the education and training sector has strived to complete the contents well and achieved many results in the past 5 years. The entire education system has increased very strongly over the past 5 years, including the number of learners, the number of educational institutions, learning opportunities, teaching staff, infrastructure system, etc.

“This increase in scale is the result of both natural population growth and increased demand for education, but also the result of universalizing and mobilizing children to go to school, from preschool to other levels. Over the past 5 years, we have completed the goal of universalizing preschool education for 5-year-olds and universalizing education to lower secondary school,” said the Minister of Education and Training.

During this term, according to comrade Nguyen Kim Son, the teaching staff has also increased and now the whole country has up to 1.6 million teachers; quality has also been constantly improved. The increase in learning opportunities and lifelong learning of the people has also promoted the scale of the entire education and training system.

The Education sector has completed the goal of universalizing education for 5-year-old preschool children and universalizing education to secondary school.

Notably, a very impressive point in the past 5 years is that at the general education level, the Education sector has completed the implementation cycle of the new general education program 2018. From 2018 to 2025, from grade 1 to grade 12, the new general education program has been implemented. In particular, there has been a strong shift from knowledge-based education to developing learners' capacity.

It can be said that up to this point, reviewing the important goals of implementing the new general education program has achieved results. Currently, the Ministry is organizing a review of the implementation process to have steps for the next stage.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son also said that in the past 5 years, the excellent student exams, especially in the international Olympic exams, have maintained in the top 10 countries with the best exam results worldwide . There are teams and groups of subjects that are even in the top 5 or top 3 countries with the best exam results worldwide. This shows the efforts and abilities of Vietnamese students in international competitions.

In addition, higher education has also made progress, many universities have appeared in prestigious ranking groups in the world. There have been many new training programs, new fields, especially in engineering technology. Currently, the rate of students studying in the fields of engineering technology, new majors has reached over 30%.

Regarding the teaching staff, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the past 5 years have seen an increase in the number of teachers, and the State has paid special attention to policies for teachers.

"Over the past five years, the teaching staff has become more confident, more excited and more committed to the profession. There have never been so many candidates applying to pedagogical majors and the entrance scores to pedagogical colleges last year were among the highest, along with the health sciences and medicine majors. This is a very good thing, showing optimism about the future of our education system. It can be said that this is a great effort that the industry can attract social forces," the Minister of Education and Training emphasized.

Along with that, another impressive point in the past 5 years is the institution, many policy mechanisms have been built, especially the Law on Teachers which was passed by the National Assembly, in which the goal is to develop the teaching staff and will take effect from the beginning of next year.

In addition, other laws such as the Law on Higher Education, the Law on Vocational Education and the Law on Education are also being completed and will be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval at the upcoming October session.

"The past 5 years can be considered as continuing fundamental and comprehensive innovation in the spirit of Resolution 29. At the end of these 5 years, the education sector received very important instructions from the Politburo with Resolution 71. The road ahead will continue to have very profound innovations and we are making efforts to implement them. We promise that in the next 5 years, there will continue to be even greater results for the education sector," the Minister of Education and Training emphasized.
