The synergy of two educational systems
Over the past years, with the spirit of overcoming difficulties, the education sector of the two provinces has gradually overcome difficulties, constantly innovated teaching content and methods, cared for staff development and invested in school facilities. Thanks to that, education in Quang Binh and Quang Tri has made impressive progress, the quality of education in both aspects has been increasingly affirmed and improved.
The Education Sector of the two localities has focused on advising on the issuance of mechanisms and policies to create a legal corridor to promote educational development. In the period of 2020 - 2025, the Education Sector of Quang Tri (old) advised on the issuance of 22 Resolutions related to sector planning, policies for teachers and students, eliminating temporary classrooms and revenue and expenditure; along with dozens of directive documents focusing on fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training according to the policy of Resolution 29, improving the quality of comprehensive and key education.
The Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh (old) also proposed to issue 14 important Resolutions, contributing to solving difficulties and meeting the practical needs of students, teachers and parents. This is a solid legal foundation for education to develop in the right direction.
Along with that, the Education sector actively reviewed and arranged the education network to be reasonable, streamlined, and effective, ensuring favorable conditions for students to go to school. After "coming under one roof", Quang Tri province's education system was expanded in terms of school size and staff.
The whole province has about 938 units and schools; the team of managers, teachers and staff is about 31,500 people. The merger into the new Quang Tri province creates conditions for the formation of a larger and more synchronous education system.
School facilities and educational equipment are invested in appropriately, in the direction of standardization, meeting teaching requirements. The rate of solid classrooms at all levels increases. The education sector mobilizes and effectively uses investment resources to strengthen facilities, teaching equipment, and build national standard schools.
The team of teachers and educational managers has developed in both quantity and quality, basically ensuring the requirements of teaching and organizing educational activities. Quang Tri province (old) has more than 13,170 managers, teachers, staff and workers. Quang Binh province (old) has nearly 18,337 managers, teachers and staff. The training of managers and teachers has always been a focus of the education sector of the two provinces. The rate of teachers meeting and exceeding standards is high.
Many cadres and teachers have achieved the title of excellent teachers; many examples of dedication to the profession and creativity in teaching have been honored. This is the core force that helps the education of the two provinces to constantly progress. In mountainous areas, teachers are dedicated, stick to the school, stick to the classroom to teach. Along with that, many generations of students overcome difficulties to go to school, continuing to write touching stories about the will to study in difficult times.
Advanced platform, sustainable quality
In recent years, the education sector of the two provinces has promoted the emulation movements of "Good Teaching - Good Learning", "Building friendly schools, active students"; effectively implementing the application of information technology, digital transformation in management and teaching activities. Administrative reform has achieved many outstanding results.
The Education sector focuses on implementing the 2018 General Education Program from grades 1 to 12 in a systematic manner, with many innovations in content and teaching methods. The selection of textbooks and compilation of local materials are carried out in accordance with regulations and promptly put into teaching. Students are increasingly proactive and confident, and their learning outcomes have also seen many positive changes.
In difficult conditions, where natural disasters and epidemics are often affected, but promoting the tradition of studiousness, generations of students from both localities are diligent, hard-working, overcoming difficulties and achieving high academic achievements.
The quality of comprehensive and key education in Quang Tri is maintained and has made positive progress. The quality of preschool education has changed dramatically, the rate of children mobilized to go to school has increased. At the junior high and high school levels, the quality of academic performance and conduct has been maintained firmly and substantially. The average rate of students passing high school graduation exams in the past 5 years (2020 - 2024) reached 95.44%.
Thousands of Quang Tri students won provincial-level excellent student awards, and 155 students won national high school awards (in the 2023-2024 school year, they won 1 first prize, 5 second prizes, 21 third prizes, and 17 consolation prizes; in the 2024-2025 school year, they won 1 first prize, 7 second prizes, 17 third prizes, and 35 consolation prizes). Many students won high prizes in the National Science and Technology Competition. For two consecutive years, Quang Tri students had projects participating in Intel ISEF 2024 and 2025. Of which, 1 project participating in Intel ISEF 2025 won the international fourth prize; 1 student participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad won a Bronze Medal.
The academic performance of Quang Binh students has improved significantly. The high school graduation rate in 2024 reached nearly 100%, and the average test scores of all subjects increased. The achievements of excellent students at all levels in Quang Binh have continuously improved. The number of students winning prizes at the national excellent student competition increased from 29 prizes (in 2021) to 55 prizes (in 2024). Schools such as Vo Nguyen Giap High School for the Gifted (Quang Binh) and Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Quang Tri) are bright spots in nurturing talents.
Dr. Le Thi Huong - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province said that after the merger, the Quang Tri education sector has the opportunity to reorganize and rearrange for more sustainable development, from planning the school system, rearranging the staff, to standardizing the training program, fostering the staff...
The Education sector inherits and promotes the achievements of education in the two localities in recent years, along with the dedication, devotion, passion and responsibility of the management staff, teachers and employees; the tradition of studiousness and the spirit of overcoming difficulties has been fostered for many generations. These are important foundations for education to develop.
Along with the above advantages, the province merger also poses many challenges. However, with high political determination and a scientific, cautious, and step-by-step approach, the Quang Tri Education sector fully expects to reap many outstanding achievements in the future.
The merger of Quang Binh and Quang Tri is not simply a matter of combining two administrative boundaries, but rather a reconciliation, resonance and upgrading of traditional values to create a new educational ecosystem with more opportunities. Quang Tri education is entering a new phase: the journey of innovation and development.
Quang Tri Province (old) has 386 public schools; 9 vocational education and continuing education centers and 1 provincial vocational education and training center. The total number of students in the province is more than 191,000. Quang Binh Province (old) has 552 schools, preschool education, general education and continuing education facilities.
