Every year, in response to the general movement, Nam Giang Ethnic Boarding Junior High School (Thanh My commune) actively organizes the "Phu Dong Health Festival" to contribute to improving the health of its students.

According to Mr. Mai Tan Lam, the school's Vice Principal, the "Phu Dong Sports Festival" at the school level, with the participation of students from grades 6 to 9, includes activities such as crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug-of-war, weaving, and athletics... This creates a healthy and beneficial playground; and also provides an opportunity for ethnic minority students to preserve their customs and traditions through familiar folk games.

In addition, the school organizes a competition on "Speaking, Singing, and Performing Folk Songs" and invites artisans to participate. Through these melodies, the younger generation of the Co Tu ethnic group understands their customs and traditions, the mountains, forests, rivers, and streams, cultural etiquette, and strengthens community bonds.

There are also children who, from a young age, have heard their parents and other adults sing folk songs while working in the fields, going to streams and forests, or during major village festivals. From this, they develop an awareness of preserving the unique oral art form of their community and actively participate in school activities.

For example, the "Traditional Costume" contest, regularly held by the school, helps students develop a love for and appreciation for traditional costumes that reflect their cultural heritage. Furthermore, the school administration maintains the practice of students wearing traditional costumes during holidays and festivals to recreate the distinctive cultural features deeply rooted in the majestic Truong Son mountain range.

Similarly, at Nguyen Van Troi Ethnic Boarding Junior High School (Tay Giang commune), the school always prioritizes the education of traditional culture for ethnic minority students.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trieu, the school principal, teachers integrate local education programs into the main curriculum, including subjects like Civics, History, Literature, and Geography. This not only promotes the cultural values and historical revolutionary relics of the locality but also contributes to developing life skills, helping students adapt to their surroundings, and proactively handle common situations. Simultaneously, it teaches them to share, live healthily and safely, and contributes to improving the overall quality and effectiveness of education.

In addition, Nguyen Van Troi Ethnic Boarding Junior High School regularly organizes extracurricular activities to help students relax after school, and to provide opportunities for bonding and solidarity among them.

In particular, the "New Rice Festival" is held annually in December. This festival, which expresses gratitude to the gods and prays for a bountiful harvest in the coming year, favorable weather, and prosperity for all families, attracts students from the entire school with many engaging activities, such as recreating the traditional New Year's pole, singing folk songs, preparing traditional dishes, and pounding rice with pestles, all performed by the students themselves.

“This activity contributes to educating students about biodiversity conservation and promoting the cultural values of the ethnic group, equipping them with life skills, and creating a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere in the spiritual lives of students in mountainous areas. It also provides a space for them to experience and gain a deeper understanding of the rich cultural traditions of their ethnic group,” Mr. Trieu said.
