Implementing numerous key projects.
Taking us to the area bordering Canh Nau commune, Yen The district, Bac Giang province, the starting point of National Highway (NH) 37 - adjacent to Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai district, where Bac Giang province has completed the road section awaiting connection to the section under construction in Thai Nguyen , Mr. Pham Ngoc Toan, Head of Chua Bua hamlet, excitedly said: "The commencement of the road project not only meets the expectations of the people in the commune but also the entire area. The biggest obstacle in transportation has now been addressed and removed by the authorities."
Mr. Tran Quang Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Long commune, said: "The completed road will contribute to strengthening traffic connectivity between Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang provinces in general, and between Vo Nhai and Yen The districts in particular; promoting the circulation of goods, developing tourism, and developing socio -economic aspects. Especially, it will make it more convenient for about 400 workers from the commune to commute to industrial zones in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, and Pho Yen city."
The project to connect Provincial Road 265 in Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai district to Bac Giang province is being implemented by the Provincial Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Transportation and Agriculture Projects. According to the plan, the project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025. The total area requiring land clearance is 18.7 hectares, of which nearly 3.6 hectares have been cleared so far; the disbursed value of the allocated capital is 47/47 billion VND, reaching 100%.
During the period 2021-2024, Thai Nguyen province invested in 11 transportation infrastructure projects with a total capital of nearly 6,800 billion VND. This shows that despite limited budget resources, the provincial leadership has shown great determination to seize opportunities and create new space and room for development, paving the way for the province's accelerated growth and breakthroughs in the coming years.

Establishing links and connections with other provinces.
Entering 2025 – a year of acceleration and completion to successfully achieve the goals of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term – the Department of Construction has actively advised the province to work with relevant ministries and agencies to propose key transportation projects, such as: Upgrading and completing the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway from 4 to 6 lanes; Investing in a road connecting Thai Nguyen and Lang Son provinces (replacing National Highway 1B); and a road connecting Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces.
In the early days of this year, the leaders of the Construction Departments of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces held a working session and reached a high level of consensus on the necessity of investing in the construction of a connecting road between the two provinces (the section from Km11+500, DT.261 to the border with Tuyen Quang province) to connect with the Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang - Yen Bai road.
The planned road connecting Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces is expected to meet Class II road standards, with 4 lanes, a design speed of 100 km/h, and a roadbed width of 22.5 meters. The route will continue the project connecting Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, and Vinh Phuc provinces at Ky Phu commune, Dai Tu district (Km11+500, DT.261 route) and end at Khe Pass, bordering Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen provinces.
Following this working session, the leaders of the two Departments of Construction reported to the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of the two provinces, agreeing on the plan and connection location, and included it in the public investment plan for the 2026-2030 period for project implementation.
Investing in this project will not only create momentum to promote socio-economic development in the two provinces of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang, but also contribute to strengthening regional connectivity and reducing travel time in both directions, from Tuyen Quang to Thai Nguyen and on to the provinces of Hai Phong, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, etc.
Along with completing the road connecting Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang, during an inspection of key transportation projects during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) to study the addition of the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen expressway to be implemented in the 2026-2030 period. This will serve as a basis for Thai Nguyen and other provinces in the region to revitalize existing growth drivers, attract investment, and develop logistics services.
Immediately following the Prime Minister's announcement, in mid-February, the Departments of Transport of Thai Nguyen and Lang Son provinces held a meeting in Bac Son district (Lang Son province) to finalize the contents for advising on the implementation of the project to connect Lang Son and Thai Nguyen, replacing the old National Highway 1B.
Accordingly, both sides agreed to propose the investment in a new Lang Son - Thai Nguyen road approximately 70km long, built to the scale of a 4-lane highway with a minimum design speed of 80km/hour. The planned route is expected to have its starting point (Km0) in Lang Son province and its end point in Thai Nguyen province. The project's connecting point between the two provinces will be in Tan Thanh commune, Bac Son district and Phuong Giao commune, Vo Nhai district.
Currently, National Highway 1B connecting Thai Nguyen and Lang Son has a total length of 145km. The road is a mountainous, level IV road with 2 lanes, making upgrading and expansion difficult, and resulting in low travel speeds. The investment in the expressway project connecting Thai Nguyen and Lang Son provinces will create a major transportation axis connecting the Northwest and Northeast regions, gradually completing an important regional transportation corridor along the East-West economic corridor, connecting from Huu Nghi border gate in Lang Son province with Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Son La provinces, and others.
In reality, favorable transportation infrastructure conditions, along with open and transparent investment attraction policies, have made Thai Nguyen a bright spot in the Northern Midlands and mountainous region, with strong economic growth and attracting many foreign direct investors.
The development of key transportation routes demonstrates Thai Nguyen's foresight in its investment attraction policy for the coming period, helping the province quickly achieve the goals set forth in the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress.
