In the enthusiastic atmosphere of the early days of the new production season, the "Sowing Ecological Seeds" Festival 2025 was held in Tram Chim and Tam Nong communes ( Dong Thap province), coinciding with the planting of the 2025-2026 winter-spring rice crop. The event, organized by Wildtour Company in collaboration with the People's Committees of Tram Chim and Tam Nong communes and other relevant units, attracted a large number of officials, members, and farmers from both localities.

More than just a celebration marking the start of the new planting season, the festival carries profound significance, conveying a message about the harmonious relationship between humans and nature in agricultural production. The choice of planting time to hold the event reflects a commitment to changing farming practices towards environmental friendliness, reduced emissions, and sustainable development.

At field number 52, delegates, technical staff, and farmers directly participated in the sowing process. On this first field of the season, the seeds sown not only carried the hope of a bountiful harvest but also spread new agricultural practices that save costs, reduce negative impacts on the environment, and produce high-quality rice.

The "Sowing Ecological Seeds" festival aims to raise community awareness about ecological rice farming, reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and protect soil, water resources, and biodiversity. In particular, this model also contributes to protecting the habitat of the red-crowned crane – a rare bird and a spiritual symbol of the Dong Thap Muoi wetland region.

Mr. Phung Cong Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Nong commune, emphasized: "The festival is an opportunity for the government and the people to change their production mindset. We are not only planting for a high-yield crop but also sowing the seeds for a sustainable ecosystem, minimizing chemical use to protect land, water resources and biodiversity for future generations."

According to Mr. Thanh, environmentally friendly rice farming not only helps farmers reduce input costs and greenhouse gas emissions but also contributes to protecting the health of producers, creating safe, high-quality rice products that meet domestic consumption needs and export markets. This is a direction consistent with the current trend of green and sustainable agricultural development.

During the planting event, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, a farmer from Tram Chim commune, shared: "In recent years, my family has gradually reduced the amount of seeds sown and limited the use of chemical pesticides. At first, I was worried about a decrease in yield, but when applying the correct techniques, the rice grows healthily, with fewer pests and diseases, and costs have decreased significantly. Especially, I feel more at ease knowing that the environment is cleaner and the water is clearer when I work in the fields."

Sharing the same sentiment, Ms. Tran Thi My Dung, a farmer from Tam Nong commune, said that the festival was an opportunity for farmers to learn more practical experiences. “Through discussions with technical staff and fellow farmers, I understand more clearly the benefits of ecological rice farming. Following this method not only benefits my rice fields but also contributes to preserving the environment and protecting the red-crowned cranes – the pride of the Tram Chim region,” Ms. Dung said.

As part of the festival, a seminar on sharing experiences in ecological rice production took place in Tram Chim commune. Here, experts, managers, and farmers exchanged views on the economic and environmental benefits of the ecological rice model linked to the conservation of the red-crowned crane.

Many believe that linking production along the value chain, adhering to ecological farming practices, and having the support of businesses are key to enhancing the value of rice grains and building a local rice brand. When products meet green, clean, and emission-reducing criteria, access to high-end markets and export opportunities will be more open.

Leaders of Tram Chim and Tam Nong communes affirmed that in the coming time they will continue to coordinate with the agricultural sector and relevant units to expand the area of ecological rice cultivation, forming a stable raw material area associated with nature conservation. Simultaneously, they will strengthen propaganda and training so that each farmer becomes an "ambassador" for environmental protection right on their own fields.

The 2025 "Sowing Ecological Seeds" festival brings hope for a successful winter-spring rice crop. From the seeds sown, a new direction for agriculture in Tram Chim and Tam Nong is gradually taking shape, harmonizing economic development, environmental protection, and the preservation of the unique natural values of the Dong Thap Muoi region.
