Nine defendants sentenced for murder committed during a dispute.

After a week of deliberation, on the afternoon of June 19, the People's Court of Binh Phuoc province announced its first-instance verdict, sentencing Trinh Cong Quynh (43 years old) and Le Van Thin (31 years old) to 17 years in prison each; Huynh Thanh Son (32 years old); Le Bao Quoc Em (32 years old); Nguyen Thanh Hai (36 years old); and Nguyen Chi Co (31 years old) to 16 years in prison each; Nguyen Hong Quang (41 years old) to 13 years in prison; Dinh Ngoc Trai (23 years old) to 8 years in prison; and Pham Quoc Do (31 years old) to 13 years and 6 months in prison, all for the crime of murder.

Defendant Nguyen Duy Quoc Truong (30 years old) received a 3-year prison sentence but was given a suspended sentence for disturbing public order. All defendants reside in Binh Phuoc province.

According to the indictment, Nguyen Duy Quoc Truong and Trinh Cong Quynh had a conflict. At approximately 8 PM on November 26, 2021, Quynh and Truong arranged to meet in an area belonging to Hamlet 1, Tien Hung Commune, Dong Xoai City to resolve their conflict.

At around 9 PM that same day, Quynh called a man named Huy for help, but because Huy was drinking and making noise, he couldn't hear Quynh and instead gave her phone number to Hai. Hai then contacted Quynh, who asked him to meet with Truong to resolve a conflict. Hai then invited Thin and Trai to go with him. Thin then invited Quang, Son, Do, Co, and Em to join them, bringing along several homemade knives.

Truong brought a machete, an iron pipe, and a can of pepper spray, then invited Dao Le Duy Phong to the meeting point. Upon arrival, Truong and Quynh talked, but a conflict arose, leading to an argument. Quynh gestured, and Thin, Em, Son, Quang, Do, and Co, armed with homemade knives and iron pipes, chased after Truong and Phong.

Nine defendants were sentenced for murder and one defendant was sentenced for disturbing public order.
