For thousands of years, Vietnamese people have built temples and worshiped the Hung Kings at Nghia Linh Mountain, Hy Cuong Commune, Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province. In addition, there are many communal houses, temples, shrines... worshiping the Hung Kings, their wives, children and generals during the Hung Kings' reign in Phu Tho and many provinces across the country. Every year, on the anniversary of the death of their ancestors, millions of people from all over the country make pilgrimages to the Ancestral Land, visit the Hung Temple to respectfully pay tribute to the Hung Kings, pay tribute to their ancestors, and burn incense at the Hung Kings' Tomb to pray for the country to always be peaceful , prosperous and for the people to be warm, happy and prosperous.

During the historical process of the nation's struggle to defend the country, Hung Temple has always been preserved by dynasties and people, with incense and offerings to worship the National Ancestor. In the Later Le Dynasty, in the first year of Hong Duc, the "Ngoc pha Hung Vuong" was compiled, in which it was written: "From the Dinh, Le, Ly, Tran dynasties to our current dynasty, Hong Duc, Later Le, incense and offerings have been burned in the temple in Trung Nghia village (Co Tich), where people from all over the country come to worship and commemorate the merits of the ancient Thai To..."
Since the country's independence, the Party, State and People have always paid special attention to the worship of the Hung Kings - the common ancestors of the nation and invested funds to renovate and embellish the Hung Temple historical relic to make it more and more spacious.
On February 18, 1946, President Ho Chi Minh issued Decree No. 22C NV/CC regulating major annual holidays, including a day off for the Hung Kings' death anniversary. On the Hung Kings' death anniversary in the year of Binh Tuat (1946) - the first year of the new Government's establishment, Mr. Huynh Thuc Khang - Acting President of the country attended the death anniversary, presented a map of Vietnam and a sword to respectfully inform the ancestors about the invaded country, praying for the ancestors to bless the country with peace, the people with security, the world with peace and prosperity, to unite to defeat the invaders, and protect the country's entire territory.
On September 19, 1954, after leading the victorious resistance war against French colonialism, President Ho Chi Minh visited Hung Temple. Here, he met and talked with officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army before returning to take over the capital Hanoi. He advised, "The Hung Kings had the merit of building the country, we, your descendants, must work together to protect the country."
On April 2, 2007, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam approved the amendment and supplement to Article 73 of the Labor Law, employees are entitled to take time off work and receive full pay on the Hung Kings' death anniversary (the 10th day of the third lunar month) to participate in activities towards the origin, in order to consolidate and promote the great national unity in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings is specifically and strictly regulated, showing the respect of the dynasties and the people for their ancestors. Nowadays, the annual Hung Kings' death anniversary is a major holiday - a national holiday of the whole country and is specifically regulated by the Government on the scale of organization according to even, round and odd years. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued a document guiding the ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings on the Hung Kings' death anniversary on the organization of the ceremony for Phu Tho province (where the Hung Kings Temple historical relic is located) and the provinces and centrally run cities where there are Hung Kings' temples, relics related to the Hung Kings and localities without Hung Kings' temples to organize the content and ceremony on the Hung Kings' death anniversary regarding offerings (including Chung cake, Day cake and incense, flowers, water, betel, areca nuts...); regulations on the costumes of the master of ceremonies, delegates attending the ceremony; ceremonial music used in the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings...
At the 7th session of UNESCO, on December 6, 2012, with the consensus of 24/24 countries in the Intergovernmental Committee for the Implementation of the 2003 Convention, UNESCO officially approved the nomination and honor of "Hung Kings Worship in Phu Tho" as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This is a very important event for the Vietnamese people in honoring the global representative value of the Hung Kings Worship - the common ancestors of the whole nation before humanity, demonstrating the strength of great solidarity in the process of building and defending the country for thousands of years of our people.
Every year on the Hung Kings' death anniversary, people return to Hung Temple to respectfully light incense sticks to express gratitude to the Hung Kings and ancestors who built the country, demonstrating the philosophy "Humans have ancestors, like trees have roots, like rivers have sources".
The Vietnamese people were born from the same mother and are always united and closely bonded. The Vietnamese people share the same Lac Hong bloodline, preserved and passed down from generation to generation - a unique and distinctive cultural identity of the Vietnamese people and also a typical cultural heritage of humanity.
