According to Mr. Le Hong Thinh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of U Minh commune, the storm caused the collapse and roof damage to 5 houses in hamlets 9, 14, and 18. One house was completely destroyed, while the other four suffered roof damage and significant structural damage to the interior.
According to initial local statistics, the incident resulted in three injuries, one of which was serious and required emergency medical attention. Many household items and essential belongings were also damaged or destroyed by the rain and water. The total estimated damage is approximately 245 million VND.

Local authorities promptly mobilized military, police, border guard, militia, and other organizations to the scene to assist residents in overcoming the consequences. The forces focused on relocating property, clearing fallen trees, and temporarily reinforcing damaged houses to ensure the safety of residents amidst the still complex weather conditions.
Besides addressing the consequences of the disaster, local authorities are also stepping up efforts to raise awareness and advise people to proactively reinforce and secure their houses, closely monitor weather developments, and implement disaster prevention measures from the beginning of the rainy season to minimize damage.

Many residents reported that the thunderstorm struck unexpectedly near dawn, with strong winds whipping up corrugated iron roofs in just minutes. The heavy rain, mixed with the sounds of crashing objects, caused panic among residents, who rushed to find safe shelter. “The wind was incredibly strong; the roofs were ripped off very quickly. People only had time to grab their children and run outside. Almost all the belongings inside the house were soaked,” recounted one affected resident.
According to the Party Secretary of U Minh commune, the locality is continuing to assess the damage and organize visits and provide support to affected households to help them stabilize their lives as soon as possible. The authorities also advise people to proactively reinforce their houses and closely monitor weather forecasts to minimize damage during the peak of the rainy and stormy season.
In recent days, the U Minh area and many other localities in the province have experienced continuous heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in the late afternoon and early morning. This extreme weather not only causes property damage but also poses a potential safety risk to residents, especially in areas with makeshift housing, forest edges, and low-lying areas.
