Syn8 3-line hybrid rice variety yields up to 88 quintals/ha

This is the result of the Syn8 3-line hybrid rice planting model in this year's spring crop in Ken hamlet, Nga My commune (Phu Binh), with a scale of 0.5 hectares. The model was implemented by Syngenta Vietnam Co., Ltd. in collaboration with plant variety dealers in the district and a number of farming households.

The 3-line hybrid rice variety Syn8 planted in the spring crop of 2025 in Nga My commune (Phu Binh) yielded up to 88 quintals/ha.

The Syn8 3-line hybrid rice variety was put into trial production by Syngenta Vietnam Co., Ltd. in 2020 and was recognized by the Department of Crop Production (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) for circulation in 2023. The model implemented in Nga My commune showed that this rice variety has a growing period of 130-133 days, a very high germination rate (98-99%), good drought and cold resistance, and is very suitable for difficult weather conditions in early spring.

After transplanting, the rice recovers quickly, takes root strongly, has strong and concentrated tillering ability, creating the premise for high yield. This is also a rice variety with good lodging resistance, disease resistance (especially blast disease), and is less prone to leaf stripes and yellow leaf tips.

Through the implementation of the model, it shows that the rice yield is high, from 2.8 - 3.2 quintals/sao, equivalent to 77 to 88 quintals/ha, about 20 to 23 quintals/ha higher than the average rice yield of the whole province, good rice quality, beautiful appearance, delicious cooked rice, rich flavor.

The success of the Syn8 3-line hybrid rice cultivation model contributes to improving rice production efficiency in Phu Binh district in particular and Thai Nguyen province in general.
