In the spring of 2026, the Bac Ninh Agricultural Extension Center implemented 3 models for planting the high-quality pure rice variety Ngoc Nuong 9 in 3 communes/wards: Tam Son, Van Mon, and Tri Qua, with the model in Tieu Long neighborhood, Tam Son ward, covering an area of 10 hectares.

Farmers participating in the model receive 50% support for the cost of purchasing rice seeds, and 50% support for fertilizers and pesticides; they also receive training and technology transfer on planting, cultivation, and pest and disease control from the Public Service Centers of communes and wards.
Ngoc Nuong 9 is a high-quality pure rice variety that can be cultivated in two seasons per year; the growing season is 130-135 days in the spring crop and 105-110 days in the autumn crop. The average yield is 55-60 quintals/hectare, and with good intensive farming practices, it can reach 65-70 quintals/hectare; the rice grain quality is good.

The Ngoc Nuong 9 rice variety, grown in Tam Son ward, achieved a yield of 67.76 quintals/hectare. |
Practical production in various localities shows that the high-quality pure rice variety Ngoc Nuong 9 has good growth and development under spring crop conditions in Bac Ninh province. It has strong tillering, good lodging resistance, concentrated flowering, beautiful plant shape, upright leaves, slightly curved and long flag leaves, large, long, bright yellow panicles, and mild susceptibility to blast and brown spot diseases. Estimated actual yield is 67.76 quintals/ha, resulting in a profit 7.6 million VND higher than the Bac Thom No. 7 rice variety grown under the same control conditions.
The delegates attending the workshop unanimously assessed Ngoc Nuong 9 rice variety as a high-quality variety with high yield potential, initially suitable for cultivation conditions in the province. They requested that localities, agricultural cooperatives, and production groups continue to monitor and evaluate the growth, development, and resilience of Ngoc Nuong 9 rice under current climate change conditions to make a more accurate assessment of the variety.
We propose that the Department of Agriculture and Environment consider including the Ngoc Nuong 9 rice variety in the supported rice variety structure in the province to give people more choices and improve production efficiency.
