The Ministry of Science and Technology has just issued a decision on the list of Vietnamese national domain names ".vn" that will be auctioned in the second round, scheduled for June 22-23 after the procedures are completed. These domain names are two characters long, not available on the market, and are classified as "rare". In the new auction, domain names will include a combination of letters and numbers, such as y1, m2, f5, g7... In addition, some domain names that were successfully auctioned in the first round but whose winning bidders did not pay will also be re-auctioned.

This is the next phase in the ".vn" domain name auction program implemented by the Ministry of Science and Technology to improve the efficiency of exploiting national Internet resources. According to the Vietnam Internet Center (VNNIC), the auction creates opportunities for businesses, organizations, and individuals to own high-value domain names to serve brand building, business, and digital presence on the Internet.
To participate, buyers need to place a deposit of one million VND. The domain names in this batch have a starting price of 10 million VND, with bidding increments of one million VND.
Two-character domain names are considered "special resources" due to their limited number. They have a concise, memorable structure and high brand recognition value, helping to protect and develop brand assets in the digital environment.
According to VNNIC, organizing domain name auctions not only aims to efficiently allocate Internet resources but also plays a crucial role in raising public awareness of the national ".vn" domain as a digital asset, encouraging businesses and individuals to proactively build a reliable online presence.
Previously, the first round, held in March, saw 50 domain names put up for auction, with a success rate of 78%. Some domain names fetched the starting price of 10 million VND, but most were many times higher. Notably, one domain name was bid at over 1.5 billion VND.
