Every early spring, localities in the province bustlingly organize festivals with strong local characteristics. These are vibrant cultural spaces where communities come together to recreate long-standing customs and practices and express their wishes for a peaceful new year and good crops. Activities such as Then singing, lion dancing, banh khao making contests, traditional cooking, etc. not only create a joyful festival atmosphere but also contribute to nurturing the love for national culture in the younger generation.
Folk art forms such as Then singing, Tinh lute, Cham dance, Khen dance, etc. are preserved and strongly spread through community classes and performance programs. Many folk artists, especially excellent artists in the province, continuously teach the next generation, helping intangible cultural values continue to live in the hearts of the community. The presence of traditional art in modern performance programs has created an interesting intersection between the old and the new, between tradition and innovation.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, a tourist from Hanoi, shared: This is the first time I have come to Cao Bang and enjoyed the traditional Then tune. It was a very interesting experience, the Then tune has a very special sound, both profound and passionate.
Notably, in recent years, Cao Bang has promoted the organization of large-scale events such as the Culture, Sports , Tourism Week, Cao Bang Non Nuoc Tourism Festival held in Hanoi or participating in the Festival "Travel through the Viet Bac heritage sites". The programs are opportunities for the province to promote the image, people and local culture to domestic and foreign tourists. The art performances are elaborately staged, combining folk elements and contemporary performances, both preserving the traditional spirit and creating new appeal, meeting the diverse enjoyment needs of the public.
Not only stopping at organizing events, people also actively participate in promoting culture through many creative forms. In community tourism villages, many households have voluntarily expanded homestays, preserved traditional house spaces, displayed ethnic items and introduced local cuisine to tourists. Some local youth also use social networks such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok to share videos of đàn tính performances, instructions on how to make traditional dishes or tell folk stories, creating a positive effect of spreading local culture to online communities at home and abroad.
Grassroots cultural and artistic clubs play a key role in propaganda activities. Exchanges and mobile performances at schools, fairs, and tourist areas not only bring a joyful atmosphere but also contribute to raising awareness about preserving national cultural heritage in the entire community.
With the initiative and sense of responsibility from the people themselves, combined with the right direction of the local government, the traditional cultural values of Cao Bang are being preserved naturally and sustainably, and at the same time being strongly spread in the digital age.
Preserving and promoting traditional cultural values through community activities, art events and the active participation of the people not only contributes to preserving national identity but also creates an important driving force for tourism development, promoting local socio-economic development. With a systematic approach, linking culture with the community, Cao Bang is gradually affirming its position as a typical cultural destination of the Northern mountainous region.
