Preserving the spirit of Rach village water puppetry

One summer afternoon, we had the opportunity to return to Rach village, Hong Quang ward, Ninh Binh province (merged from Hong Quang and Nghia An communes of the old Nam Truc district and Nam Van commune, Nam Dinh city). This is one of the long-standing cradles of the traditional art of water puppetry in the North, where the sound of the drums and the laughter of children under the shade of ancient trees by the village pond still echo every day. In the clear water, the lively wooden puppets dance and frolic, telling rustic yet captivating folk tales, just like the rhythm of life in the countryside here.
