According to the assessment of the Provincial Police Directorate, in recent times, the crime and law violation situation in some communes, wards, and border special zones bordering Cambodia remains potentially complex, especially concerning illegal entry and exit, smuggling, storage, transportation, and trading of prohibited goods, illegal transportation and exploitation of sand, etc. Crimes related to social order and drugs tend to increase and become increasingly complex.

To maintain security and order in the border area and facilitate cross-border trade, the Party Secretary of Chau Doc ward, Lam Quang Thi, proposed: “The Provincial Police Directorate should advise the Provincial People's Committee on solutions to create favorable conditions for people to cross the border for buying and selling, visiting relatives, and seeking medical treatment… In addition, maintaining peace , stability, friendly cooperation, and mutual development; and comprehensive socio-economic development in the border area are also principles and guidelines to ensure security and order in border communes, wards, and special zones. Furthermore, it is necessary to build a core force among ethnic groups and religions; care for social welfare; maintain friendly cooperative relations between the two sides; establish a coordination mechanism between border commune and ward police; and increase personnel in key areas.”

According to Nguyen Luu Trung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ha Tien Ward, the province needs a plan for coordination between border areas to enhance the effectiveness of joint efforts in combating various types of crime, as criminal activities are not governed by administrative boundaries. In addition, the locality needs to closely coordinate with relevant agencies in handling and preventing crime effectively.

Major General Nguyen Van Han - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Public Security Department, requested: “The Party Committees and People's Committees of communes, wards, and special zones should pay attention to leading and directing the coordination in implementing resolutions, directives, conclusions, and guiding documents of the Central Government in the field of ensuring security and order, and preventing and combating crime. Localities need to continue to promote the implementation of the Party Central Committee's directive on strengthening the Party's leadership over the nationwide movement to protect national security in the new situation; and promote the building of a truly clean, strong, regular, elite, and modern People's Public Security force, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation.”

Military forces, border guards, and customs officials will direct their coordinated efforts to support the police in maintaining security and order; concentrate forces and resources and implement comprehensive measures to ensure political security; and strongly prevent, attack, and suppress all types of crime. Emphasis will be placed on implementing social and professional crime prevention measures, coupled with improving the effectiveness of state management of security and order; proactively detecting potential complex security issues early and from afar to promptly propose solutions and thoroughly address them, avoiding passivity, surprise, and the formation of hotspots. Simultaneously, effective patrol, control, and strict management of key areas and targets in border regions will be implemented.
