In the current economic structure of Thai Nguyen province, the industrial and construction sector accounts for the highest proportion, reaching 50.5%; followed by the service sector (33.3%); agriculture, forestry and fisheries (11.5%); and product taxes less product subsidies (4.3%).

According to the Statistics Department's report, the gross regional product (GRDP) of the province increased by 6.47% in the first six months of the year compared to the same period last year; the industrial and construction sector alone contributed 2.71 percentage points to the overall growth.

Despite facing numerous objective challenges stemming from geopolitical tensions, widespread military conflicts around the world, and unpredictable tariff policies from major economies, industrial production in Thai Nguyen province has maintained a stable pace.

It is noteworthy that the industry's growth rate has been improving month by month. Specifically, the industrial production index (IIP) in the second quarter is estimated to have increased by 11.68%; for the first six months of 2025, the IIP is estimated to have increased by 8.86% compared to the same period last year.

Within industrial production, the "bright spots" were mining (up 12.96%); processing and manufacturing (up 9.07%); and water supply, waste management and wastewater treatment (up 15.49%).

Several second-tier industries showed high year-on-year production index increases: metal ore mining increased by 19.82%; wood processing and production of wood, bamboo, and rattan products increased by 16.54%; paper and paper product manufacturing increased by 10.04%; rubber and plastic product manufacturing increased by 21.58%; metal production increased by 16.95%; production of electronic products, computers, and optical equipment increased by 10.68%; motor vehicle manufacturing increased by 49.17%; water extraction, treatment, and supply increased by 17.89%...

A notable highlight is the continued positive results in attracting investment to the province's industrial sector. In the first six months of 2025, the province granted licenses and adjusted capital increases for 24 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total registered capital of US$256 million (including 8 newly licensed FDI projects with a total registered capital of US$121.09 million). To date, the province has 228 active FDI projects with a total investment of US$11.19 billion.

Experts believe that the shift to a two-tiered local government model, reducing intermediate layers and streamlining administrative procedures, will facilitate businesses in proactively developing their production and business plans. The vigorous fight against counterfeit goods in recent times will also stimulate businesses to boost production.

Furthermore, export-oriented manufacturing sectors such as electronics, textiles, and mining still enjoy a relative advantage due to Vietnam's framework agreement with the US on lower export tariffs compared to many other countries. These factors provide impetus for industrial production in general, including in Thai Nguyen province.

In Thai Nguyen province, the implementation of public investment projects is being accelerated, especially connecting transportation routes; the synchronous development of industrial park and cluster infrastructure, along with maintaining production momentum in the first months of the year, will be the foundation and driving force for the industrial sector to accelerate and continue to play a leading role in the province's economic growth.
