"Veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business" is one of the practical and meaningful movements that the Veterans Association at all levels of Ben Tre province is interested in implementing.
The results of the movement have motivated many War Veterans Association members to escape poverty, become rich legitimately, and contribute to the implementation of the Resolution of the Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee on poverty eradication and ensuring social security in the province.
The Resolution of the Congress of Delegates of the Association of War Veterans of Ben Tre province for the 7th term (2022 - 2027) determined the importance of poverty reduction, poverty eradication, and legal and legitimate enrichment among War Veterans. Accordingly, the Standing Committee of the Association of War Veterans of Ben Tre province has developed a plan to implement poverty reduction and poverty eradication in the Association of War Veterans at all levels for the period 2022 - 2027 and was approved by the Executive Committee of the Association. This plan also aims to contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee on poverty eradication and ensuring social security in the province. The implementation process has received consensus and high response from the Association of War Veterans at all levels in the province, achieving many outstanding results.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Vice Chairman of the Association of War Veterans of Ben Tre province said that the Association of War Veterans of the province has organized the implementation of the plan, issued many documents guiding the implementation and regularly monitored, inspected and reminded the Association of War Veterans at district and grassroots levels. The investigation work to grasp the number of poor households, near-poor households and households that cannot escape poverty is closely coordinated by the Associations at all levels, evaluating and classifying the reality to have the right and effective support solutions.
To contribute to taking better care of members, the Executive Committee of the Ben Tre Provincial Veterans Association has launched the emulation movement "War veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business" to each cadre and member of the War Veterans Association. To implement this, the Association at all levels has created conditions to encourage members to promote their potential and strengths, developing the movement in both breadth and depth. The Association orients members to strongly develop household economy, replicate economic models such as the 5+1 model of helping each other reduce poverty, eliminate poverty and help each other become well-off and rich; the model of livestock cooperatives to reduce poverty; the production and business model owned by the War Veterans Association... In 3 years of implementing the movement, from 2022 to 2024, the War Veterans Association at all levels in the province has built 611 "5+1" models with over 3,580 members. Of these, there are 112 poverty reduction models with 700 members, 499 "5+1" models helping each other get rich with more than 2,880 members. Up to now, the province also has 67 small and medium enterprises, 151 cooperatives, 49 farms, over 1,000 family farms, nearly 1,100 business households owned by war veterans. The provincial War Veterans Entrepreneurs Association and the war veterans and economic veterans clubs of districts and cities have all operated with high efficiency.
Thanks to that, as of October 2024, the War Veterans Association at all levels in the province had built 407/247 houses of solidarity with a mobilized budget of VND 24,691 million; built 55 houses of solidarity and love with a mobilized budget of VND 2,974 million. War veterans in the province supported and helped each other with production capital, worth over VND 66 billion million; supported crops and livestock worth VND 5,561 billion; supported 4,768 working days; lent 27,042m2 of production land.
“The movement of war veterans helping each other reduce poverty and do good business of the War Veterans Association has made many important contributions to building new rural areas and civilized urban areas. Many cadres and members actively contributed and mobilized people to contribute cash, working days, donate land to build rural traffic and local public works with a total value of tens of billions of VND” - Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Vice Chairman of the War Veterans Association of Ben Tre province added.
It can be said that the movement of war veterans helping each other reduce poverty and do good business has contributed to strengthening solidarity, bonding comradeship, and promoting charity, mutual love and mutual assistance activities more and more effectively. From there, it contributes to connecting members with the Association, building the Association increasingly clean and strong.
