For nearly three months now, the People's Committee of Nguyen Du Ward (Ha Tinh City) has maintained the practice of sending congratulatory letters to citizens registering for marriage or obtaining birth certificates for their children, and sending letters of condolence to families who have recently lost a loved one.

Not long ago, Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Thao Nhi, from residential group 4, and her fiancé went to the Nguyen Du Ward People's Committee to register their marriage. After all the procedures were completed, the couple received a congratulatory letter from the Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, sharing in their family's happiness. Ms. Thao Nhi said: “My fiancé and I were very surprised to receive a congratulatory letter from the ward leaders when we came to register our marriage. I am happy that this important event in my life has received the attention of the local government. The ward has not only created a friendly and close relationship between the government and the people but also reminded us of our responsibility to build a happy marriage and family, and to work together for a civilized and developed city.”

Like Ms. Thao Nhi, Mr. Truong Cong Hoa (residential group 2) was extremely surprised and delighted to be the first person to receive a congratulatory letter from the Ward People's Committee on welcoming a new member to his family. “When I went to the Ward People's Committee to register my child's birth as required, I received a congratulatory letter. The letter was printed on elegant colored paper, containing the full names of my wife, myself, and our newborn son, along with best wishes. I was very moved by the joy of receiving blessings from the very place where we live, as well as the ward's welcoming of a new citizen,” Mr. Hoa shared.

The model of sending letters to citizens was piloted by the People's Committee of Nguyen Du Ward in August 2023. Depending on the specific situation, when citizens residing in the area come to the People's Committee to register their marriage or the birth of their child, the People's Committee will send a congratulatory letter; for families with a deceased relative, the ward will send a letter of condolence. At the same time, letters of apology are sent when administrative matters are not resolved promptly; thank-you letters are sent to organizations and individuals who contribute ideas to government building or provide timely feedback to the government...

The letters were concise and intimate, reflecting the government's concern and friendliness towards the people.

Along with the letter-sending model, the implementation plan for "Friendly Government for People's Service" in Nguyen Du ward also includes many other contents such as: resolving administrative procedures correctly and on time; effectively implementing the "office smile" policy, regulations on civility and culture in the workplace; the head of the ward receiving and engaging in dialogue with citizens; building the slogan "5 Knows" (knowing how to listen to the people, knowing how to speak so the people understand, knowing how to act so the people trust, knowing how to apologize, knowing how to thank) and "3 Manifestations" (respect, civility, approachability)...
