On May 19th, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Truong Viet Dung provided information on the land clearance situation in the city.

A number of houses have been demolished to make way for the construction of the Tran Hung Dao bridge.
According to Mr. Dung, land clearance is of particular importance, determining the progress of infrastructure development investment projects, effectively utilizing land resources, and creating momentum to promote socio -economic growth in Hanoi.
Currently, communes and wards in Hanoi are implementing land clearance for approximately 1,428 projects (1,281 projects using budget funds and 147 projects using non-budget funds). Among these, the city currently has 27 large-scale, key projects that contribute to resolving bottlenecks and promoting socio-economic development of the capital.
According to the leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee, in order to achieve the GRDP growth target and strive for double-digit growth by 2026, the city has identified accelerating land clearance and unlocking land resources as a key and urgent task.
In recent times, the Hanoi People's Committee has focused on directing efforts to resolve difficulties and obstacles in compensation, support, and resettlement work in order to accelerate the implementation of projects, especially strategic transportation infrastructure projects, regional connectivity infrastructure, and key projects of the Capital city.
Mr. Truong Viet Dung stated that thanks to the decisive involvement of the entire political system, land clearance work, especially from the end of 2025 to the present, has seen many positive changes. Many projects that had been ongoing for many years have completed land clearance, such as the four bridges over the Red River: Hong Ha Bridge, Me So Bridge, Van Phuc Bridge, and Ngoc Hoi Bridge; the Ring Road 1 section from Hoang Cau to Voi Phuc; the Ring Road 4 - Capital Region; and the intersection of the road surrounding the Chu Van An memorial area with Road 70 and Tam Trinh Road.
Currently, the city is focusing on land clearance for the 2.5, 3, and 3.5 ring roads, along with many key transportation routes and the remaining three bridges over the Red River, including Tu Lien Bridge, Tran Hung Dao Bridge, and Thuong Cat Bridge. Hanoi aims to complete land clearance for the three bridges over the Red River and the remaining sections of the 2.5 ring road before June 30th.
In addition, Hanoi is implementing land clearance and investing in the construction of 9 major projects such as the Olympic Sports Urban Area; the Red River Landscape Boulevard; the Medical Complex - Elderly Healthcare - Hanoi Medical University in Hoang Mai ward; the Digital Technology and Mixed-Use Park in Phu Dien and Tay Tuu wards…
According to the leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee, to accelerate the land clearance process in the coming time, the city will ensure the synchronized involvement of the entire political system; strengthen the leadership and guidance role of Party committees and authorities at all levels, especially the grassroots government, and the responsibility of the heads of departments.
The results of land clearance work will be considered an important criterion for evaluating the performance of collectives and individuals. The city will also strengthen inspection and supervision, promptly addressing areas where implementation is slow or hotspots arise.
In addition, Hanoi will strengthen propaganda and public relations work; implement compensation, support, and resettlement plans in a public and transparent manner; and enhance direct dialogue with people to clearly explain legal regulations.
The city is simultaneously implementing a comprehensive set of specific mechanisms and policies from both the central and city governments, especially policies aimed at increasing compensation, support, and resettlement for large and important projects. Compensation will be linked to resettlement arrangements and ensuring long-term livelihood stability for the people.
According to the leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee, in the coming time, the city will continue to identify land clearance as a key and urgent task; ensuring that it is carried out openly, transparently, in accordance with the law, and ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of people affected by the project.
