Hoan Kiem District ( Hanoi City) estimates the total investment for the project to expand Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square and demolish the "Shark's Jaw" building to be approximately 18 billion VND.
Hoan Kiem District has submitted a proposal to the Hanoi People's Committee requesting the task of preparing a report proposing the investment plan for the expansion of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square.
According to the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee, the total area for the planning and renovation of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square is approximately 1.2 hectares.
Within the planning area of the existing square, there is a building called "Shark's Jaw," constructed in the early 1990s and managed by the Hanoi Transport Corporation, with a land area of approximately 390m2 and a usable floor area of approximately 1,600m2.

According to the detailed plan approved by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2021, the land area of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square is designated for transportation purposes and is planned for an underground parking lot; while the land area of the "Shark's Jaw" building is designated for public use.
Based on the planning and design study for the renovation of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square and the directives of Hanoi city leaders, Hoan Kiem district plans to demolish the "Shark's Jaw" building before April 30th.
The district estimates the total investment for the project to expand Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square and demolish the "Shark's Jaw" building to be approximately 18 billion VND. If assigned by the city, the district will assume the role of the project's investor.
Hoan Kiem District also stated that the project preparation period is from March to April 2025; implementation will take place in 2025.
The demolition of the "Shark's Jaw" structure near Ho Guom Lake should have been done a long time ago.
