" Hanoi FC really had a difficult match. The opponent was strong, but we encountered unfavorable weather conditions. That made Hanoi FC lose 0-6 to Urawa Red Diamonds ," coach Bozidar Bandovic shared.
Hanoi FC visited Saitama Stadium 2002 of Urawa Red Diamonds, in the second round of the AFC Champions League group stage. The Vietnamese representative faced many difficulties against the class of the top J-League team. Playing at a disadvantage, Hanoi FC conceded goals quite easily.
The match between Urawa Red Diamonds and Hanoi FC took place in heavy rain.
The home team's scorers in the first half were Pham Tuan Hai (own goal), Alexander Scholz, Toshiki Takahashi. In the second half, Sekine Takahiro, Jose Kante and Ekanit Panya put their names on the scoreboard.
" I would like to congratulate Urawa Red Diamonds. They proved why they are the reigning AFC Champions League champions with consecutive goals in the early stages of the first half. Urawa Red Diamonds also took advantage of dead ball situations very well. Half of the goals conceded by Hanoi FC came from corner kicks and penalties ," coach Bandovic commented.
After two matches, Hanoi FC conceded 10 goals and scored only 2 goals, ranking last in the table. The Montenegrin coach hopes his players will improve their finishing ability and achieve better results in the future.
" On the positive side, I think Hanoi FC tried and created some chances at the end of each half. The players moved well, found space to combine and circulate the ball into the opponent's half.
But the players still lack the precision in the final stages to score goals. We have four more matches in the 2023/2024 AFC Champions League group stage and the team will try their best, "said coach Bandovic.
In the next match, Hanoi FC will visit Wuhan Three Towns. This match will take place at 7:00 p.m. on October 24.
