According to the Northern Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Station, Hanoi experienced hot weather on June 3rd; temperatures recorded at 1 PM at Lang Meteorological Station were 36.7°C, Hoai Duc 36.4°C, Ha Dong 36.1°C, and Ba Vi 36°C.

Due to the influence of the southeastern edge of the developing and expanding hot low-pressure area in the West, Hanoi will experience hot weather in the afternoons of April 4th and 5th-6th, with maximum temperatures of 36-38 degrees Celsius. The period of intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, will be from 12 PM to 5 PM daily.

The meteorological agency notes that the temperature forecast in heatwave reports and the actual temperature felt outdoors can differ by 2-4 degrees Celsius, or even more, depending on the surface conditions such as concrete, asphalt, glass windows, etc. In addition to high temperatures, the humidity in the air in Hanoi these days is relatively low, at 52-57%.

On June 6th, the intensity of the heatwave increased again and is likely to last until June 8th. From the night of June 8th, Hanoi experienced thunderstorms, ending the heatwave.

Meteorological agencies warn that hot weather combined with low humidity increases the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas due to increased electricity demand; it also increases the risk of forest fires. Hot weather can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heatstroke in people who work, travel, or are exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.

To protect their health during hot weather, Hanoi residents should limit working and traveling outdoors for extended periods during peak hours; drink plenty of water, take precautions when going outside, and avoid keeping children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions in high-temperature environments for too long. Families, agencies, and organizations should use electrical equipment safely, avoid overloading the electrical system; proactively prevent fires and forest fires, and closely monitor weather forecasts and warnings.
