Hanoi breaks all records for tourist numbers during the New Year holiday.
With a sudden surge in visitors, Hanoi welcomed over 560,000 tourists during the New Year holiday, generating 2.1 trillion VND in revenue.
Báo Tuổi Trẻ•04/01/2026According to a report from the Hanoi Department of Tourism on January 4th, all tourism indicators in the capital city showed triple-digit growth during the New Year holiday. International visitors increased by 287% to 110,000, while domestic visitors increased by over 240% to approximately 450,000. Along with this, tourism revenue also increased by 254%.
The strong growth in tourism in the capital during this New Year's holiday is attributed to the four-day holiday and favorable weather, creating ideal conditions for locals and tourists to plan their time for rest, sightseeing, and experiences.
Hanoi is also proactively diversifying its tourism products to create differentiation and innovation, harmoniously combining heritage, traditional culture with modern technology.
During the 2026 New Year's celebrations, Hanoi organized fireworks displays at five locations and launched a series of new experiential programs such as the artistic lighting display around Ho Guom Lake and the Turtle Tower, the digital exhibition "Hanoi Radiant - Light and Heritage," countdown programs, and music and art performances featuring numerous domestic and international artists.
Tourist attractions that draw large numbers of visitors during this period include: Hanoi Zoo, Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Duong Lam ancient village, etc.
This year, Hanoi is making a strong impression with high-tech tourism products such as the "Thang Long Imperial City" performance at Thang Long Imperial Citadel using 3D mapping technology.
