Japan - a key international tourist market.
The program is part of a Famtrip surveying tourism in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Quang Ninh from May 25-29, with the participation of representatives from Japanese travel agencies, tourism businesses from the three localities, and related units. The program aims to enhance destination promotion, expand the international tourist market, especially the Japanese market; and promote the development of tourism routes between Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Quang Ninh.
A key highlight of the program is the organization of meetings, product presentations, and direct networking events between Vietnamese tourism businesses and Japanese travel agencies. This provides an opportunity for localities to showcase their unique tourism products, accommodation services, attractions, resort products, culture, heritage, and inter-regional tourism routes that suit the needs and preferences of Japanese tourists.

According to Tran Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Japanese tourists have always been a key international market for Vietnam, averaging over 800,000 visitors annually. Of these, nearly 40% visit Hanoi, with over 300,000 visitors, placing it among the top 5 international tourist markets for Hanoi.
“A 2026 survey of our visitors identified that, in the perception of Japanese tourists, Hanoi is recognized as a destination with outstanding local culture. The city also leaves visitors with the impression of a destination offering unique experiences and is an exciting city,” Mr. Hieu informed.

Meanwhile, Bui Van Manh, Director of the Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, noted that Ninh Binh, Hanoi, and Quang Ninh are closely linked in terms of history, culture, and development space. These are all regions rich in heritage, located within the Red River Delta cultural space, with convenient transportation systems and close geographical proximity, creating conditions for the formation of an important tourism development triangle in the northern region.
All three localities possess a rich and unique cultural heritage, providing a foundation for developing many attractive tourism products and services that suit the needs and tastes of Japanese tourists.

Japan is also a key international tourist market for Ninh Binh. Over the past two years, the province has continuously organized tourism promotion programs in Tokyo and Osaka to promote the destination's image and strengthen connections with Japanese partners. It is expected that in July, Ninh Binh will continue to organize a tourism promotion program in Osaka to expand cooperation and more effectively exploit this market.
According to Mr. Bui Van Manh, "Ninh Binh identifies Japan as one of the potential tourist markets, suitable for high-quality tourism products rich in cultural experiences, landscapes, heritage, and relaxation."
Expanding cooperation and promoting two-way tourist exchanges.
The Famtrip delegation, comprising 28 members representing reputable Japanese travel agencies interested in or having previously brought tourists to Vietnam, conducted on-site surveys of tourism products and services in Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Quang Ninh. They also facilitated connections and exchanges of experience between local businesses and Japanese travel agencies, with the aim of developing new tours and routes to enhance the experience for Japanese tourists.

From May 25th to 27th, the delegation conducted a field survey at the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex - a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site, exploring eco-tourism, cultural tourism products, and experiencing the unique landscapes of Ninh Binh; they also surveyed services at the Kenh Ga Hot Spring Resort, accommodation and dining options, and some services at hotels, including the Pullman Ninh Binh Hotel.
In Quang Ninh, the group experienced a cruise to explore Ha Long Bay - a World Natural Heritage site; and visited the Quang Ninh Museum.
In Hanoi, the group visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and the Bat Trang Ceramic Museum; enjoyed the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam night show and Hanoi cuisine; and experienced sightseeing in Hanoi by double-decker bus (City Tour) and the 5 Cua O train...

Welcoming the Japanese Famtrip delegation contributed to directly showcasing the image of safe, friendly destinations rich in cultural identity, with diverse tourism products, notably heritage tourism, ecotourism, resort tourism, health and wellness tourism, cultural and spiritual tourism, and community tourism.
Based on real-world experience, Japanese travel businesses gain more information, images, and specific insights to develop suitable tour programs, gradually making Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Quang Ninh important destinations in the travel itineraries of Japanese tourists in Vietnam.
Through this program, the tourism sectors of Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Quang Ninh hope to expand cooperation with Japanese partners, promote two-way tourist exchanges, and enhance destination promotion through international media channels and tour distribution systems. At the same time, this also provides a foundation for local tourism businesses to further improve their products, enhance service quality, and focus on professionalism, friendliness, safety, and better suitability to the needs of Japanese tourists.
