According to information from the Hanoi City Civil Works Construction Investment Project Management Board, the Thang Long Avenue Expressway construction investment project, the section connecting National Highway 21B to Hanoi - Hoa Binh Expressway, is about 6.7km long.
The starting point connects to the asterisk intersection between Thang Long Avenue and National Highway 21, Thach Hoa Commune, Thach That District. The ending point connects to Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh Road at the intersection with Van Hoa Village Road, Yen Binh Commune, Thach That District with a cross-section of 120-180m.
On the route, there are 4 bridge works (over rivers, level crossings) and 5 tunnel works (1 underpass running directly along the main route serving the expressway component and 4 underpasses for people across the road).
The total investment of the project is more than 5,200 billion VND from the city budget and central support.
According to the Hanoi People's Committee, the investment in the route aims to gradually complete the entire Hanoi - Hoa Binh expressway; expand the capital Hanoi to the West and Southwest, create conditions for socio-economic development, security and defense, be the driving force for the development of the Hoa Lac satellite urban area and the western satellite urban chain; meet the rapidly increasing transportation needs between the center of the capital and the western region and connect with the Ho Chi Minh route.
Currently, the section connecting Thang Long Avenue to Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh Expressway is a 12m wide asphalt concrete road, the road surface has degraded.
The Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh Expressway has a total length of 26km, and has been in operation since October 2018 with a scale of 2 lanes and a speed of 80km/h. The expressway starts from the separation point of Hoa Lac - Vietnam Ethnic Culture Village and ends at Trung Minh Commune, Hoa Binh City. This route is planned to be expanded into a 4-lane expressway, followed by the Hoa Binh - Son La expressway in the future.
Thang Long Avenue is about 30km long, a radial expressway in the West, connecting Hanoi center with Hoa Binh and the Northwestern provinces, and has been in operation since October 2010 with a scale of 6 expressway lanes and parallel roads on both sides.
