Hai Duong ensures supply of goods in flood conditions

Supermarkets in the province have prepared essential goods and are ready to coordinate supply and serve people.

On September 10, the Department of Industry and Trade requested large-scale enterprises producing and distributing essential food and foodstuffs in the province, including the following companies: Masan HD One Member Co., Ltd., Vifon Corporation - Hai Duong branch, Vinafood 1 Corporation, supermarkets: GO! Hai Duong, BRG Mart, Lan Chi in Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town... to quickly inform about the current situation of essential goods (instant noodles, dry food, clean water, rice...) and the system of agents, distributors, and places to gather goods according to the enterprise's plan to proactively regulate goods when required. Enterprises supplying goods in the province should well implement the plan to reserve essential goods. Proactively prepare flood prevention plans at the facility, ensure the safety of human life and property of the unit, while maintaining connection to supply sources, increasing reserves, and being ready to coordinate to provide essential goods to serve people in the area if flooding occurs.

The Department of Industry and Trade also requested the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to proactively assess the local situation and make a list of locations with suitable terrain to gather essential goods to supply people when flooding occurs.

Ms. Vu Thi Sen, Director of GO! Hai Duong supermarket, said: “Since noon on September 10, the supermarket has mobilized goods from warehouses in the Southern, Central and Hanoi regions to increase the supermarket's stock. The main items are fresh food, instant food, instant noodles, drinks, etc. with a total quantity of more than 15 tons of goods. The supermarket has proactively contacted suppliers to increase supply, and is expected to increase output by 30-45% compared to normal.” Similarly, at BRG Mart supermarket, goods are continuously transferred from suppliers and from the company's warehouses to increase and supplement with dozens of tons of goods. According to the supermarket representative, the transfer of goods will be adjusted based on people's shopping needs.

On September 10 and 11, the market management teams of the Hai Duong Market Management Department strengthened the management of the area, reviewed, grasped, and focused on inspecting a number of grocery stores and household goods businesses such as mini gas stoves, alcohol stoves, life jackets, boots, etc. to propagate and remind business owners not to speculate, hoard goods, and unreasonably increase prices. The market management force will strictly punish acts of speculation, hoarding, and profiteering when people's demand for goods increases, causing market instability.

On the afternoon of September 11, the leader of the Hai Hung State Reserve Department informed that the warehouses with national reserves under the management of the department have prepared goods, supplies, food, and rice. The quantity and quality of food, rice, and paddy items are guaranteed, ready to be issued when ordered by competent authorities. National reserve materials and goods such as motorboats, generators, rescue equipment, etc. are also guaranteed in quantity, ready to be put into use when ordered. All branches have implemented measures to ensure the safety of warehouses and national reserves. The Reserve Department has worked with the leaders of the People's Committees of Hai Duong and Hung Yen provinces to report on the work of national reserves, ready to be issued when requested by the two localities.

Through inspection, the materials for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue at the warehouses are ready for operation; the unit has prepared human resources, vehicles, and national reserve goods to organize timely distribution, support localities in responding to and overcoming the consequences of floods according to regulations. Currently, the State Reserve Department in Hai Hung area has 16 warehouses for storing national reserve goods, including 11 warehouses in Hai Duong and 5 warehouses in Hung Yen.

With such proactiveness, Hai Duong people can rest assured about the source of goods, and should not rush to buy and stockpile goods, which can push prices up and destabilize the market.
