In June, plum gardens in Moc Chau began their main season. This year, the plums ripened about a month later than usual, due to the effects of frost after Tet. In early May, some gardens opened for plum picking, but because they were off-season, the fruit was green and not as big as in the main season.
Plum valleys that are attracting tourists include Na Ka, Cho Long, Mu Nau, Tan Lap, and Ban On. These are all famous destinations for Moc Chau tourism . During the season of white plum blossoms after Tet, these are also the destinations that attract the most tourists.
Plums vary in size depending on the garden and tree. Each tree usually has only a few large fruits, so if you want this fruit, you have to visit many trees, even many gardens.
Quang Kien, a tourism worker in Moc Chau, said plums usually ripen in about two months, so it is expected that tourists will still be able to come to Moc Chau to pick plums until the end of July.

Visitors should go plum picking early in the morning when the gardens still have a lot of fruit. If it is afternoon, they have to go deeper into the gardens to find more ripe fruit.
"You should go to the plum garden from 7 to 10am, and if you want to take beautiful photos, you should go in the afternoon from 3 to 6pm, when the sunlight is beautiful and not harsh," Kien added.
Plum gardens will charge a fee of 30,000 to 40,000 VND per person, including picking and eating as many plums as you like on the spot. If visitors buy plums to take home, the price ranges from 20,000 VND to 60,000 VND per kilogram, depending on size.
