In June, plum orchards in Moc Chau begin their peak season. This year, the plums ripen about a month later than usual, due to the frost after Tet (Lunar New Year). In early May, some orchards opened for visitors to pick plums, but these were off-season plums, so the fruit was green and not as large as during the main season.

The plum blossom valleys that are attracting visitors include Na Ka, Cho Long, Mu Nau, Tan Lap, and Ban On. These are all famous tourist destinations in Moc Chau. During the plum blossom season after Tet, when the flowers are in full bloom, these are also the most popular tourist spots.

Plums vary in size depending on the orchard and the tree. Each tree usually only produces a few large fruits, so if you want to find this type of fruit, you have to visit many trees, even many orchards.

Quang Kien, a tourism worker in Moc Chau, said that plums usually ripen within about two months, so it is expected that tourists can still come to Moc Chau to pick plums until the end of July.

Young tourists in Hainan are delighted to be able to pick plums in the orchard and eat them right there.

Visitors should go plum picking early in the morning when the orchards still have plenty of fruit; if they go in the afternoon, they will have to venture further into the orchards to find more ripe plums.

"You should go to the plum orchard between 7 and 10 am, but if you want to take beautiful photos, you should go in the afternoon from 3 pm to 6 pm, when the sunlight is nice and not too harsh," Kien added.

Plum orchards will charge between 30,000 and 40,000 VND per person, including picking and eating plums on the spot in unlimited quantities. If visitors buy plums to take home, the price ranges from 20,000 to 60,000 VND per kilogram, depending on size.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Van (center), the owner of a plum orchard in Moc Chau, said that the weather in Moc Chau is beautiful and cool this season. Besides picking plums, tourists can also camp in the orchards. Plum orchard owners provide all-inclusive services for tourists.

The tea hills of Moc Chau, Dai Yem Waterfall, Chieng Khoa, and the grasslands in Moc Chau are in their most beautiful season, perfect for tourists to explore and enjoy the scenery.
