Hai Phong requires localities and units to be proactive.

The Hai Phong City Civil Defense Command has just issued an urgent dispatch requesting military forces, units, and localities to proactively respond to storm No. 4 (storm Co May).

The document stated that on the evening of July 23, the tropical depression had strengthened into storm number 4 (also known as storm Co May).

Implementing the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in Official Dispatch 4711/CD-BNNMT dated July 23, the City Civil Defense Command requested local civil defense commands and sectors, agencies and units to closely monitor forecasts, warnings and storm developments. Notify captains, owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea of the location, direction of movement and developments of the storm to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas.

Prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when necessary.

Hai Phong Newspaper, Radio and Television, Hai Phong Coastal Information Station and mass media agencies, grassroots radio and television systems increase information about the developments of storm No. 4 to local authorities, owners of vehicles operating at sea and people to know to proactively prevent and respond.

Organize on-duty seriously and promptly inform the Standing Office of Natural Disaster Prevention of arising issues for synthesis.

At 1:00 p.m. on July 24, storm No. 4 (Comay) moved in an East Southeast direction at a speed of about 10km/h.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 p.m. on July 24, storm No. 4 (Comay) was located at 16.3° north latitude; 118.7° east longitude, in the eastern sea of the North East Sea. The storm has a level 9-10 intensity (75-102 km/h), gusting to level 12.

The storm is currently moving in an East Southeast direction at a speed of about 10km/hour.

Under the impact of storm No. 4, the eastern sea of the North East Sea has strong winds of level 7-8, near the center of the storm are strong winds of level 9-10, gusting to level 12. Waves are 4.0-6.0m high. The sea is very rough.

Note: Vessels operating in the danger zone are at high risk of encountering thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds and large waves.
