South Korea is urgently deploying measures to ensure accommodation for thousands of visitors attending the Asia- Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, scheduled to take place in Gyeongju city, North Gyeongsang province from October 31 to November 1.

According to the announcement of the APEC 2025 Preparation Committee, about 20,000 people, including heads of state, politicians, diplomats and business people from 21 member economies, will be present in Gyeongju on this occasion, according to a VNA reporter in Korea.

As the former capital of the Silla Dynasty, famous for its historical heritage and relics recognized by the United Nations Educational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Gyeongju has more limited tourism infrastructure than Seoul and other major cities, causing the demand for accommodation to far exceed the capacity to meet it.

To serve high-ranking leaders, the Korean Government has invested about 12 billion won (equivalent to 8.5 million USD) to build 21 presidential rooms at 10 facilities around the Hwabaek Convention Center - the venue for the APEC Summit.

Due to the scarcity of accommodation, business delegations and guests will be arranged in neighboring cities such as Ulsan, Daegu and Busan.

In addition, the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry plans to mobilize two cruise ships anchored at Yeongil Bay, Pohang - a 70,000-ton ship with 850 rooms and a 26,000-ton ship with 250 rooms - to provide additional accommodation for international guests./.
