Some flights of Vietnamese airlines to Taiwan (China) such as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have had their schedules adjusted due to the impact of typhoon Koinu.

Due to the impact of typhoon Koinu, to ensure passenger safety, airlines have adjusted flight schedules.

Specifically, Vietnam Airlines adjusted flight schedules to and from Kaohsiung (Taiwan, China) on October 5, such as canceling flights VN587 from Kaohsiung to Hanoi ; VN581 from Kaohsiung to Ho Chi Minh City.

“The corresponding flights on the night of October 5 and the morning of October 6 will use wide-body Airbus A350 or Boeing 787 aircraft to serve passengers,” added a representative of Vietnam Airlines.

Similarly, Vietjet Air's flights VJ885 and VJ886 from Ho Chi Minh City to Kaohsiung and vice versa will be temporarily suspended. Some of the airline's flights will also be affected.

The above airlines also hope to receive the sympathy of passengers in case of having to change the operation plan due to weather reasons to ensure absolute safety and at the same time recommend that passengers planning to arrive at or depart from Kaohsiung airport regularly monitor and update the weather situation and flight information.

On October 4, the government of Taiwan (China) requested agencies, businesses and educational institutions in 5 districts and cities to close, ensure maximum safety for people and prepare measures to respond to typhoon Koinu, which is expected to make landfall on the island on the morning of October 5.

Airlines announced the cancellation of 87 domestic flights and 25 international airlines also made similar announcements for international routes.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 a.m. on October 5, the center of the storm was located at about 22.0 degrees North latitude; 121.2 degrees East longitude, in the sea southeast of Taiwan (China).

The strongest wind near the storm center is level 14 (150-166km/h), gusting to level 17, moving west at a speed of about 15km/h.

It is forecasted that by 1:00 a.m. on October 8, the storm will move westward at a speed of about 5-10 km/hour over the sea southeast of Guangdong province (China) and gradually weaken. The strongest wind is level 8-9, gusting to level 11./.
