Trucks waiting to export goods to China at Km3+4 opening (Hai Yen Ward, Mong Cai City)
Specifically, according to the Mong Cai City Customs Department, there are an average of 100 trucks of fresh and frozen seafood going through import and export procedures through the Km3+4 opening every day. However, in the past 3 days, China has suddenly restricted the import of lobsters, leaving businesses unable to react. Tons of lobsters that could not be sold died en masse.
A representative of Mong Cai City Customs Department said that after receiving information about China restricting lobster imports, some units brought goods to lagoons and cold storage for preservation. However, many trucks could not find a place to store them in time and their goods were damaged. There were about 2-3 trucks with an estimated 6 tons of dead lobsters.
According to a representative of Mong Cai City Customs Department, these lobsters were sold by traders for rescue, at only 1/3 the price, about 400,000 VND/kg.
Faced with the above situation, Mong Cai City Customs Department has informed businesses of the situation; at the same time, coordinated with Mong Cai City's functional agencies to discuss with the Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) to remove obstacles.
Lobsters cannot be exported so traders have to sell at "rescue" prices.
