Da Nang has the potential to become the "capital" of AI
At the workshop "Artificial Intelligence - New driving force for Da Nang's development" held on May 9 with the participation of nearly 400 delegates, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, assessed that artificial intelligence (AI) is an inevitable trend, opening up many new opportunities for cities like Da Nang to optimize management, socio-economic development and improve the quality of life for people.
In particular, with the strategic advantage of favorable geographical location; developed network infrastructure system, information technology infrastructure; attractive investment incentives and support policies; high-quality living environment and the determined support of the government..., Da Nang aims to become the high-tech center of the country with a focus on semiconductors and AI.
"The city is focusing on promoting digital transformation and developing AI applications in the fields of healthcare, education, tourism, logistics, public administrative services and smart cities...", Mr. Minh said.

Sharing the same view, Dr. Le Quang Dam, General Director of Marvell Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that currently, Da Nang is a livable city in Vietnam. In the coming time, the city will not only be associated with the most livable place in Vietnam but also must become a center for AI and semiconductor industry.
The General Director of Marvell Vietnam Co., Ltd. realized that Da Nang has great potential to become a leader in AI and semiconductor industry.
Specifically, the local government’s commitment, enthusiasm and desire for businesses to invest in the city are the reasons why Marvell is committed to investing in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular. Notably, in May 2024, Marvell opened an office in Da Nang.
Next, the city's infrastructure is very good, better than both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. "Although there is still room for further improvement in infrastructure, I believe Da Nang will meet the needs of businesses in AI and the semiconductor industry," Mr. Dam emphasized.
Similarly, Mr. Vu Anh Tu, Technology Director of FPT Corporation, acknowledged that Da Nang has many advantages in terms of geography and information technology human resources.
Notably, in August this year, FPT Corporation will invite more than 300 leaders of leading businesses in the world from the US, Germany, Japan, Korea... to Da Nang.
According to Mr. Tu, these are top leaders who are implementing digital transformation and AI transformation at the largest enterprises in the world. Enterprises will come to Da Nang to sign cooperation agreements with FPT. "Da Nang is becoming the "capital" of technology on the world map," Mr. Tu shared.

Attracting AI giants, improving human resource quality
However, the Director of Technology of FPT Corporation said that to develop AI, Da Nang needs two extremely important decisions.
The first thing is to attract investors and corporations to "pour capital" into data centers and research and development centers in Da Nang. "How to convince leading technology companies in the world such as Microsoft, Google... of the US to set up data centers in Vietnam. That will be the premise to easily attract businesses around the world," said Mr. Tu.
The next issue is "to be self-sufficient in AI", according to the CTO of FPT Corporation, the enterprise is attracting a large source of technology human resources to work in Da Nang. In addition, many officials and employees in Quang Nam and neighboring provinces are finding Da Nang an attractive destination, attracting high-tech human resources to work.
"We believe that these two strategies are important to quickly 'turn' Da Nang into the world's technology capital," Mr. Tu added.

According to the General Director of Marvell Vietnam Co., Ltd., for human resources for AI, the semiconductor industry must not only have quantity but also quality. "In 2025, Marvell will recruit 1/5 (about 20%) engineers in Da Nang, so we must find a way to improve the quality of students. Marvell will accompany universities and the Da Nang City government to improve the engineering training program," Mr. Dam hopes.
From a local perspective, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee said that the city has prepared land, infrastructure, and human resources; along with that, it is continuing to perfect support mechanisms and policies to attract more domestic and international resources, contributing to building a modern, dynamic, and sustainable technology ecosystem.
"The city government is committed to continuing to accompany and create the most favorable conditions for organizations, businesses, and researchers to join hands in developing the AI ecosystem in a comprehensive and sustainable manner," Mr. Minh pledged.
