At the opening ceremony of the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), Chen Gang, Party Secretary of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, stepped up to the podium and wore AI glasses that could display his speech in real time.

He said this is the latest achievement of our proactively embracing the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and establishing the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Cooperation Center.

This pair of smart glasses, developed by Guangxi-based Maiyue Technology Co., Ltd., can not only project real-time text prompts, but also support instant translation between ten ASEAN languages.

After the opening of this year's CAEXPO, these smart glasses quickly attracted attention, and customers from Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc. came to learn and consult.

Thailand's Yongsheng International Business Management (Bangkok) Co., Ltd. has signed a sales contract with Maiyue Technology Co., Ltd. to purchase 1,000 pairs of AI glasses.

“We hope to use technology to solve real-world problems,” said Huang Yuyang, Marketing Director of Maiyue Technology Co., Ltd.

Huang Yuyang demonstrated a real-time Chinese-Thai interaction scenario at the booth: when a Thai businessman speaks Thai, his Chinese counterpart can see real-time Chinese translation subtitles through the glasses; the Chinese response is also converted into Thai via the app and displayed on the phone screen. “The linguistic diversity of ASEAN countries is where AI can play a key role,” said Huang Yuyang.

At the 22nd CAEXPO held in Nanning this year, for the first time, there was a 10,000 square meter dedicated AI pavilion, showcasing the entire AI ecosystem, from hardware to software, from technology to application.

Cutting-edge products such as Huawei's Hongmeng foldable computer, Alibaba Cloud's Tongyi Qianwen large-scale model, Yushu Technology's biorobot, and UBTECH's industrial humanoid robot were on display, demonstrating China's multi-dimensional and in-depth innovation capabilities in AI technology.

In addition to smart glasses, more and more “dark technology” is being transferred from CAEXPO to ASEAN: at the CAEXPO Vietnam Exhibition in April this year, a Chinese coffee-making robot debuted in ASEAN and won an order for 300 units, worth about 7.5 million USD. These innovative applications meet the urgent needs of ASEAN countries.

Alibaba Cloud government and enterprise solutions architect Chen Yang said Alibaba will fully open source its large-scale technology and adhere to the strategy of “Research and Development in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, Integration in Guangxi and Application in ASEAN.”

He hopes that through the CAEXPO platform, more ASEAN partners will be able to use China's most advanced AI technology with low barriers and high efficiency.

The vitality of technology is ultimately demonstrated by the universal benefits it brings to humanity. In front of the booth of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, a long line of people lined up in front of the AI traditional medicine diagnosis machine.

This device integrates traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis methods such as facial diagnosis, tongue diagnosis and pulse diagnosis, and can generate health status reports and health recommendations in just 3 minutes.

“High technology can only truly show its value when it is visible, tangible and easy to use for everyone,” said Fu Xiaoqian, deputy director of the scientific research department of the No. 1 Hospital.

According to CAEXPO Secretariat Secretary-General Wei Chaohui, AI is not only the focus of this year's CAEXPO, but also an important driving force for China-ASEAN cooperation in the future.

“ASEAN countries are generally undergoing rapid digital transformation, and they are eager to deepen cooperation with China on AI technology, applications and talents. CAEXPO aims to build a more efficient, intuitive and sustainable cooperation bridge,” Ms. Wei Chaohui added./.
