Seeing this, Mr. Quang and Mr. Sanh used a basket boat to swim out to save him. However, the big waves and strong winds caused all three people to be swept away, unable to return to shore.

By the morning of November 7, the Quang Ngai Province Civil Defense Steering Committee had sent a document requesting the National Civil Defense Steering Committee and the General Staff of the Ministry of National Defense to direct Division 372 (Air Defense - Air Force) to mobilize helicopters to search for the three missing people mentioned above.
