In recent days, heavy rains combined with floodwaters from upstream have caused river levels to rise rapidly, resulting in severe flooding in many areas, especially residential areas along the Perfume and Bo rivers. In response, the Hue City Department of Education and Training has decided to suspend classes for nearly 295,000 students from kindergarten to grade 12 starting October 27th. The image shows the flooded area at Thuy Thanh 2 Kindergarten (Thanh Thuy ward), where the water is so deep that people have to travel by boat. Currently, Hue City continues to experience heavy rainfall, with a very high total rainfall amount. Reservoirs continue to release water, causing the extent and severity of flooding to remain high. The image, taken at Phu Duong Kindergarten (Duong No Ward), shows the entire school heavily submerged by floodwaters. Several schools in the low-lying areas of Hoa Chau and Dan Dien wards are deeply flooded, and students are still unable to attend classes. Floodwaters surrounded the kitchen area of Phu Mau 1 Kindergarten. On October 26th, the teachers proactively closed the classrooms and moved their belongings to higher ground to avoid the flood. The historic floods on October 27th and 28th caused extensive flooding. Initial estimates indicate that hundreds of schools in Hue City were severely flooded. Phu Duong Kindergarten, Luu Khanh branch (Duong No ward), was still heavily flooded on the morning of October 29th. A kindergarten in Hue City took advantage of the morning of October 29th to clean up after the floodwaters. While preparing to continue cleaning the school on the afternoon of October 29th, floodwaters in Hue City suddenly rose. Schools are required to review and reinforce facilities, and remain on standby throughout this period to proactively respond. Once the weather stabilizes, schools must make up for lost teaching time for students.
